Martin Ulisse Trebbiano

Reminiscent of a pinot grigio or an un-oaked chardonnay, the Trebbiano is a light bodied, off-dry, crowd pleaser with the delicate flavors of pear, and apple. This mellow lightly fruity white has a hint of minerality. Its crisp clean finish makes it an "easy to drink" wine which can be had alone, or chilled on a hot summer day and yet compliments any meal.

Featured Recipe Pairing - Tomato & Feta Salad

Tomato & Feta Salad

I would not normally do a tomato salad in February, it is usually a bit early to get really good tom

atoes, but I was in the store and they had some that looked and smelled fabulous.  I typically do my meal planning in the store based upon what looks fresh, so I couldn't resist.  If the tomatoes don't look great, try making this with grape tomatoes which usually have good flavor year round.  The sweetness of the tomatoes and the saltiness of the feta cheese make a great combination and the basil and olive oil really enhance the flavors.  There is no need to add any salt to this easy salad, there is plenty of saltiness from the feta.  This is a great salad to pair with Martin Ulisse Trebbiano.

Mocavero Puteus
puteus new label

The earthy bouquet includes a strong hit of espresso and vanilla, with fruit taking the background. An overall spicy edge, older vintage and good fermentation allows this to be a big and weighty wine with unique characteristics. Lively berries dominate the initial taste, with blackberry and bold yet balanced tannins taking the mid-palate. The finish hearkens back to the bouquet with vanilla, earth and a delicate touch of spice. Excellent with roast meat, wild fowl, spicy dishes and cured meats.

Featured Recipe Pairing - Beef Wellington

Beef Wellington

Beef Wellington is a cla

ssic dish that features beef tenderloin with duxelle and pate in puff pastry.  Here is a quick and easy version that you can prepare for your significant other, minus the pate, my wife doesn't like pate.  It pairs wonderfully with Mocavero Puteus, this month's featured red wine.

Did You Know?

Most European wines are named after their geographical origin. One very famous example would be the Bordeaux wine which is produced in the Bordeaux region of France. Bordeaux wines are made of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and to a much lesser extent Carmenere and Malbec. Non-European wines almost always have the name of the grape (aka the varietal) on the label - for instance Cabernet Sauvignon from California.
