Tribute for Lynda Bozeman Hammond
Lynda Bozeman Hammond 1951-2016
Our dear friend Lynda left this world on Monday, January 18th 2016. To me, she was a very special person.
Many who knew Lynda did not realize that she was born and raised in Central Florida. She started out as a country girl from Winter Garden.
I met Lynda when we sold our farm and moved to RK Stables in Sorrento. I did not know what to expect in a boarding stable as I had my own farm for 28 years and was in charge. But I soon realized that having the company of likeminded people was a wonderful thing!!
Shortly after moving to RK Stables, Lynda came to my aid when I took a bad spill off my horse Harley. Although I had known her only for a short time, Lynda was the one who insisted that I get checked out for injury. With that, she took me to the emergency room. Our friendship continued to blossom over the years.
Lynda had been a music teacher in Jacksonville and also in the Orlando area. She was a very talented musician, playing cello in the Bach Orchestra and singing in the Bach Choir. She was recognized by her music peers as a special addition to the group.
Lynda and I attended film classes together where we would join others in discussing various movies. We read and exchanged lots of books , sharing our viewpoints of each. Of course, our favorite subject was always , HORSES.
When she lost her beloved horse Top Gun she did not acquire another, as her family of grandchildren was growing by leaps and bounds. She and her husband Mac, traveled as far as Japan to spend time with their son, Troy, and his family. Their son Adam lived in New Hampshire where he attended medical school.
Many times, as a dressage judge, I had to travel to horse shows out of the area. More times than not, Lynda would volunteer to travel with me and volunteer to scribe for those shows. It was always an adventure as her sense of humor would always be entertaining.
Lynda also, at one time, raised and showed Standard Poodles. She was a master groomer as you must be to show this breed.
She was a member of CFD for some years. Many of you knew her but for us at RK Stables, she was Family.
I,like many of you, miss her every day but we take comfort in believing that she is now galloping in the fields of heaven.
Rest in Peace, Dear Friend
The Board of CFD offers their condolences to all of Lynda's friends and family.
