North Bay Hindu Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established to build a Hindu temple dedicated to the Mother Goddess represented by Durga (Goddess of Courage), Lakshmi (Goddess of Wealth) and Saraswathi (Goddess of Knowledge and Learning).
The temple is currently open every Sunday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Unity in Marin, 600 Palm Drive, Hamilton, Novato, CA 94949. Everyone is welcome. For more information click

Pakora is one of the favorite snack or appetizer in India. It is mixed of garbanzo flour and spices, fried in oil to make them into amazing crispy pakoras and served with different sauces. Pakoras are best to served with cup of hot tea but also go well with cocktails or beer. The best thing about pakoras is that they are pretty fast to make if you need a tasty snack quick, you can use almost any vegetable for making these delicious pakoras.

Cafe Lotus offers different type of pakoras including Chicken Pakora (Gluten Free) organic chicken breast fried in home made garbanzo flour batter served with tamarin & mint sauce. Onion Pakoras (Vegan) onion fritters fried in mildly spiced garbanzo bean (besan) batter and Vegetable Pakora (Vegan/Gluten Free) cut mixed vegetables (baby spinach, baby potatoes, cauliflower) fried in garbanzo flour.

This is still my favorite Indian restaurant in Marin, by far, and stands up to any others I have tried elsewhere. Always excellent and very friendly service, very fresh and clean flavors and high quality ingredients, and a lovely interior. I have been trying more vegetarian dishes and this place makes it easy to skip any meat cravings. Lotus will never disappoint!
