The 2017 Legislative Session began February 7, 2017. There are several bills that will have a direct impact upon Advanced Practice in the state of Alabama. On February 9th, the following bills had their first read in the Senate Health and Human Services Committee: SB

DEA has made a change to their notification policy. Only one email notification (not two) will be sent to remind the practitioner to renew their DEA. DEAs are renewed approximately every 3 years based on when the applicant first applied and the alphabetical listing of their last name. Be sure to check your DEA status today!
The Nurse Practitioner Alliance of Alabama (NPAA) will hold its 11th Annual Advanced Nursing Practice Conference on October 27-28th, 2017 at the Hyatt Wynfrey Conference Center in Birmingham, AL (located at Galleria Mall).
NPAA cordially invites you to submit an abstract in evidence-based practice to be considered for a podium presentation at the 2017 conference. Please note that presentations should include best practices in advanced nursing practice, and include updates in pharmacological treatment and advances related to the topic. Scholarly projects, original research, and quality improvement projects with outcome data are also of interest to the panel.
Osteoporosis is a growing major public health problem with impacts on quality and quantity of life that cross medical, social, and economic lines. These guidelines were developed by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) with hopes of reducing the risk of osteoporosis-related fractures and thereby maintaining the quality of life for people with osteoporosis. The intent is to provide evidence-based information about the diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis for endocrinologists, physicians in general, regulatory bodies, health- related organizations, and interested laypersons.
