Awake My Soul
What do you think of when you think of your soul? It is often defined as our mind, will and emotions. Our beings are made up of body, soul and spirit. The first commandment is "Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength." Our souls can die in sin (Ez. 18) or be saved (1 Peter 1:8-9).
Hopefully we can all agree our soul is not tangible and a very deep and intricate part of who we are and what we express. It holds what is going on in deepest depths of our being. What would you say is going on there?
What is the condition of your soul?
Is it dying? It is cast down? Is it alive and overflowing with the love God has for you? Is it thirsty for God, who is the very owner of each and every one of our souls?
In the words of the song Fall Afresh, "Spirit of the Living God, come fall afresh on me. Come wake me from my sleep. Blow through the caverns of my soul. Pour in me to overflow."
Verse 5 of Psalm 42 says this..."Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God."
