PALCUS NEWS

Our latest guest is Rep. Antonio F. D. "Tony" Cabral, representing the 13th Bristol District in the Massachusetts state legislature, who emigrated from the island of Pico in the Azores with his parents at the age of 14.  His district, which encompasses the city of New Bedford, claims 37% Portuguese ancestry. During the interview, Rep. Cabral talks about the importance of dialogues with  the Azorean government and how they are beneficial to both sides and also about how much more involved the Portuguese-American community has become in his district. His call for action is for Portuguese-Americans to become more involved at the local level and the need for young people to actively participate in their communities.
