Tauber Solutions:
Optimizing Inventory Management
The Problem: Identify how to help BorgWarner plants in different regions with varied product portfolios and market environments improve and optimize inventory management so as to provide the company better operational sustainability in diverse global markets.

The Solution: The Tauber team of Christina Greaves (MSCM) and George Wu (MBA) traveled to BorgWarner corporate headquarters and manufacturing plants in the United States, Mexico, India, Poland and China. After carefully prioritizing areas of opportunity, the team developed a set of recommendations mostly focused on managing raw materials, which included developing a template to determine policies by using optimized inventory models. The Tauber team's findings not only targeted supply chain operation processes but also other opportunities related to the company's reporting system and each plant's utilization of ERP technologies.
