Pastor's Message
Deeper in Prayer: Draw the Circle

For our Lenten series starting on Ash Wednesday February 14 th we will be going Deeper in Prayer in line with our Deeper series for the year.  I will be using the resource book, "Draw the Circle: The 40 Day Prayer Challenge" by Mark Batterson.  I encourage you to purchase the book to deepen your experience with this journey of Prayer.  I have made copies of questions that correspond to each day's theme which can be picked up at the service on Ash Wednesday.
Like last year we will not have a supper on Ash Wednesday and will worship in the sanctuary at 7pm.  The following weeks we will have a supper at 6pm and worship at 7 in the fellowship hall.  There will be discussion questions provided for you to discuss at your tables during the meal and following the video message.
The following is the intro into Mark's book: The forty-day prayer challenge is going to change your life.  In fact, the next forty days have the potential to dramatically alter the rest of your life.  God is going to begin a good work in you, and He is going to carry it to completion.  Miracles that happen in your life decades from now will trace their origin back to this season of prayer.  Breakthroughs that happen during these forty days will become generational blessings that live on long after you die.
If you press into God's presence like never before, you will experience God like never before.  You'll look back on these forty days as the best forty days of your life.  They won't be the easiest forty days; in fact, they may be the hardest.  Don't be surprised if you experience spiritual opposition along the way.  But if you pray through, God will break through in new ways.  It's as inevitable as the tide coming in.
There is nothing magical about forty days, but there is something biblical about it.   That's the number of days Jesus spent in the wilderness fasting and praying.  It marked a critical chapter in His life - the transition from His earthly father's business to His Heavenly Father's business.  Jesus was tested like never before, but this experience set the stage for His greatest victories over the enemy.  The war against sin and Satan may have been won on Calvary's cross, but the key battle happened in the wilderness three years earlier.  When Jesus returned to Galilee, He wasn't the same person.  You won't be either.  You'll emerge from this forty-day prayer challenge, just like Jesus, in the power of the Holy Spirit.
If you want God to do something new in you, you cannot keep doing the same old thing.  You have to do something different.  And if you do, God will create new capacities within you.  There will be new gifts and new revelations.  But you've got to pray the price.  You'll get out of this what you put into it.
Please consider making this time of gathering for a great meal and fellowship, and a time of great prayer and growth; a priority.  Prayer is a gift from God that gives power, passion, and direction to our lives.  A deeper prayer life is certainly a part of our journey to spiritual maturity.  Please join your LCC family in 40 days of focused prayer during lent.

Blessings,

Pastor Philip

Good Friday
Vicki Thompson

On Good Friday, we remember the day Jesus willingly suffered and died as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins.  This had to happen in order for us to receive the joy of Easter.  The cross is where great suffering and God's forgiveness converge, and we are saved by His divine grace.

Please join us as this story of tremendous love is told through beautiful music by our choir.  If there is enough interest, child care will be provided.  Please RSVP to Stephanie at  [email protected]  , so we can plan for staffing.  The Good Friday service is on March 30th at 7:00 p.m.
Prayer Warriors
Cheryl Touryan

During the exodus of the Jews from Egypt, a time came when they had to fight the Amalekites. While Joshua led the battle, Moses went to the top of a nearby hill to pray. He got so tired that he needed Aaron and Hur to hold up his hands while praying. As long as he was praying, Joshua was victorious. After winning the battle, Moses named the place "The Lord is my Banner, for hands were lifted up to the throne of the Lord."  (Ex. 17:15) Our prayer warriors welcome anyone who would like to "hold up the hands" of those bringing LCC, the community and the world before God's throne of grace.   Wednesdays  2:30 - 3:30.

LCC Library
Linda Mohrmann

The Lenten Day of Renewal at LCC is right around the corner, February 10 th. The theme of the renewal is "Matters of the Heart." The featured book this month is God's Heart for You by Marie Chapian. "The meditations in ( this book) will touch your soul as you listen to God's Word in a fresh, intimate way-just as if He were speaking directly to you.

The alphabetized book lists in both the War Room and Office Libraries are now completed. Lists will be printed out and put into their respective binders, SOON. Remember, books have been shelved alphabetically by author but an alphabetized list by title will also be available. The next project will be a list of topics and in which library and on which shelves books can be found.

If anyone has any suggestions or questions about the library, please don't hesitate to ask. Address suggestions and questions to Linda Mohrmann.

As we speak of "matters of the heart", a heartfelt thank you to all who helped organize the library and to those who have donated books to share. You are all very much appreciated.
Prayer Requests

Please remember to check the Prayer Request page on the back of the Sunday bulletin and contact the church office to update any prayer requests!

Volunteers Needed to Lead Ministry Teams
for Outreach Projects

In our efforts to do more and be seen more in our community, we have a few  projects that we feel
would be a great way to get that started. We need volunteers
to lead a Ministry Team in the following projects:

  • Ministry Team Leader needed: LCC Float for the Evergreen Rodeo Parade (the parade is held in June)
  • Ministry Team Leader needed: LCC Basketball Tournament
  • Women Of the Word members will lead the ECHO Summer Food Preparation and Drop Off - (1 week in June, July & August) watch for notifications on how you can be part of the team
If you have a heart for any of these projects, or have an idea for something new, please contact Eunice Bollinger at [email protected]. While Eunice is on her
mission trip during the first couple of weeks in February, you may contact Jill Hansen as her backup at
[email protected].

For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
