January In Review
In January we started our fun fantastic ski program at Suicide 6, The Woodstock Resort Corporation generously donates the ski passes to our group. We have over 14 skiers this year that participate in the program. We partner with Vermont Adaptive and they bring all kinds of adaptive skies for us. For those that use regular skis, the rental shop gets us all suited up.
We also started training for competitive snowshoeing, partnering with High School Students each week.
We learned about Scotland on culture day with Kitty. We visited Billings Farm for educational farm programs. We went to the HOP to see the "Malpaso Dance Company" and Northern Stage to see "The Little Mermaid". We had a creative story telling workshops with Jools. We visited the Lebanon Opera House and saw the "The 13 Story Tree House". We sing every week with Kerry Rosenthal.
Jim Sadwith is working with us on our new musical and it will be Wednesday May 23rd at 5:30p.
We enjoyed fitness programs with Bari each week, nutrition with Vince and dancing with Jen. Just for fun we went bowling at Maple Lanes. We also enjoyed yoga classes twice a week, now with our 5 instructors, Jess, Lalita, Tita, Jamie and Amanda. We swam at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center.
We had lots of art classes including pottery at ArtisTree, art with Caitlin Eastman, art with Lolly and Bonnie, and art with Fiona.
We also read books with Bettyanne, Diane and Phil.

Special Needs Alliance announces an accessible Cinco de Mayo 5K run/walk event
Lebanon, NH- The Special Needs Alliance (SNA) of the Upper Valley announces an accessible Cinco de Mayo 5K run/walk event on the Rail Trail in Lebanon on Saturday, May 5 at 12 pm which will culminate in a celebration of food and fun at the Spark! Community Center adjacent to the trail. More information about this event can be found on our webpage: , or on Facebook at
The Special Needs Alliance was created early in 2015 as a collaboration of six Upper Valley not for profit organizations serving people with special needs and disabilities. The Alliance provides members collegial support, information sharing, and addresses professional issues faced by providers of services to those with differing abilities. The six organizations include: Global Campuses Foundation, High Horses Therapeutic Riding Program, Spark! Community Center, Special Needs Support Center, Visions for Creative Housing Solutions, and Zack’s Place Enrichment Center.
The SNA has brought together six organizations, each of which offers a specialized service for individuals living with differing abilities. Our collective goal is to allow the 20% of our population with special needs to enjoy a meaningful life and place in our communities; to raise awareness of the gifts each of these individuals has to offer, to disseminate information about the differing services our organizations provide; and to work cooperatively in the use of resources.
