Message from Interim Superintendent Rose

Dear Mill Valley School Community!

In the month of February, we celebrated the 100th Day of School, enjoyed a restful mid-winter break, and now we continue our focused work on planning for the 2019-20 school year. New student enrollment is in process, staffing assignments are being developed, and plans are being made to ensure a high-quality, well-rounded educational program continues to be offered to our Mill Valley students.

The district has experienced a decline in enrollment over the last five years and we continue to plan carefully. Through the support of our local partners such as Kiddo! and PTA, funds are prioritized in alignment with the district’s Strategic Plan . Keeping focused on the four key objectives of Balanced Learners, Supported Staff, Communications, and Sound Finance and Infrastructure will guide us in implementing the District’s vision of developing globally-minded, compassionate, resilient, and courageous students who are empowered to learn and lead change in their world.

As we enter the spring, we look forward to continuing to learn, grow, and create memories in classrooms and school sites across our school district!

Strategic Plan Highlight
Balanced Learner
Our schools continue to focus on supporting all aspects of the learning environment. For the 100th day of school, some MVSD kindergarten classes had a special visitor - Zero the Hero, to join in counting to 100! At other schools, students had a " Global Day of Play" which fostered the importance of unstructured play and creativity.

These two highlights of the month connect to our Strategic Plan Objective of "Balanced Learners" by providing opportunities to foster global-mindedness, problem-solving, collaboration, and a welcoming school environment.
