Techstars and 43North Partner to Grow Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Buffalo

Techstars , the worldwide network that helps entrepreneurs succeed, and  43North , New York State’s startup competition that invests $5 million annually to attract and cultivate startups in Buffalo, NY, are partnering on a multi-year program to further develop and scale the Western New York entrepreneurial ecosystem. Together, Techstars and 43North will build a self-sustaining coalition of entrepreneurs, corporate partners, local and national investors, government and academic leaders, and startup enthusiasts within the community.


Mentis Technologies a startup located at Griffis Institute Business Incubator Wins DOD Cybersecurity Contract

  Mentis Technologies , LLC, a cybersecurity startup company, announced that they were selected as the recipient of a  Small Business Innovation Research  (SBIR) contract. This is Mentis Technologies’ second SBIR award to develop innovative cybersecurity solutions for the nation’s Air Force. This phase of the SBIR includes conducting a feasibility study to determine the effectiveness of potential or existing commercial or defense solution(s) to protect Cyber Physical Systems (CPS).


Launch NY’s Invest Local Summit & Expo Landscape Introduces New Investor Network to Fuel Upstate NY’s Most Promising Startups

Launch New York (Launch NY), Upstate New York’s first and only venture development organization to help provide pro bono mentoring and capital access to high-growth potential startup businesses across the 27 westernmost counties of the state is expanding its financing programs to include for profit as well as nonprofit seed funding options. At the inaugural Invest Local Summit and Expo, Launch NY, the only venture funding Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) deploying capital in New York State, unveiled their new Investor Network as the first financing program offered in the region to let those near and far invest local in Upstate New York’s growing entrepreneurial ecosystem.

76West is an unparalleled competition sponsored by NYSERDA focused on growing entrepreneurs and attracting resources from the U.S. and around the world to build clean energy businesses and jobs in New York State’s Southern Tier region. The competition offers $20 million in prize money and support services, including a $1 million top prize.
