Brandon University's Rural Development Institute Seeking Feedback from Alberta Employers

Brandon University's Rural Development Institute is looking for testimonies from Small and Medium Enterprise owners or representatives about their hiring motivations.

The goal of this survey is to inform policy-making to foster the recruitment of newcomers and facilitate their integration in Canada.

If your business has less than 500 employees and has hired newcomers within the last five years, you are encouraged to fill out the survey.

The Passport to Christmas event this year sold over 1,958 passports in Blackfalds for a total of $469,920 in local retail sales!

The Blackfalds Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all those businesses that participated in this year's event. The Chamber will be conducting Passport to Christmas again next year to encourage local retail sales.

The 2019 Alberta Retail Crime Prevention Summit is fast approaching.

Go to the website with this link https://arcps.ca/ where you can register for the summit, taking place on April 24, 2019 in Red Deer, Alberta at the Sheraton hotel. The fee is $60 per attendee which can be submitted via the website. Details for the venue and presenters are also on the website. We would also ask that you register with a company email address – we want to limit attendees to be representing an agency of some sort and this is difficult to do with personal email addresses such as gmail, Hotmail, etc.

As of December 1st, Destination Development Association membership will be FREE through all of 2019.

Sign-ups will be available December 1st through all of 2019. The free memberships will expire December 31, 2019. At that point, members will be notified they can purchase a membership to continue using the DDA resources.
