February 2019 ~ Issue 24
Dear Evergreen Elementary Families,

We are over 100 days into the 2018-2019 school year! February is going to be a jam packed month with many fun events at Evergreen.

Our Talent Show, "Evergreen's Got Talent", will be held this Wednesday, February 6th at 6:00pm in the MU. Come out and see our talented Bobcats perform for their families!

On Thursday, February 7th from 4:00-5:30pm, all families are welcome to join us for our Restorative Practices Implementation Team Meeting. This meeting will be combined with our English Language Advisory Council (ELAC) meeting. Restorative Practices are an integral part of what makes Evergreen unique, so we encourage all parents to join us to learn about how we build community and solve problems at school. This meeting will be hosted by our consultant from Restorative Resources, Maria Freebairn-Smith. Childcare and Spanish interpreting is provided. We will meet in the school office.

On Wednesday, February 13th from 6:00-7:30pm, we are hosting a special Restorative Practices event for our Transitional Kindergarten/Kindergarten families. This event is titled, "How to Parent with Love, Even When You're at Your Wits End!" This event will be hosted by our consultant from Restorative Resources, Maria Freebairn-Smith. Childcare, Spanish interpreting, and pizza is provided. We will meet in Mrs. Hilliard's Kindergarten classroom, Room N2.

We hope you are all planning to attend our Open House Showcase on Wednesday, February 20th from 6:00-7:00pm. Our band will be performing at 6:00pm in the MU, and we will have burritos and a drink from Taqueria Sol Azteca available for purchase for $6.00. For more information about this event, please click on the video link below. We are very excited about this event and hope all Evergreen families can attend!

FYI families: Our Food Services Department would like us to remind you we offer breakfast daily at morning recess/break. It is $2.00 for full price students. If you have any questions, please contact our Food Services Department at 707-588-5621.

Restorative Practices Family Corner
As we continue our journey with Restorative Practices, we thought it would be a good idea to have a dedicated "Family Corner" section in the Evergreen Express. In this section, we will post a "Question/Topic of the Month" to inspire restorative conversations with your families. A great place to have restorative conversations is around the dinner table.

February Question of the Month: "What do you wonder about the world?"

Good luck!

PTA Corner

Happy February Team Evergreen,

We are 100 days old! We have had a great first 100 days and can't wait to see what the rest of the year holds for us. We had a great turn out for the bird house making Family Fun Night last week. A big thank you to Tracy Uwins and David Johnson for making that happen and all your hard work. It was amazing!

We are currently looking for a new membership committee chair for the coming year. If you are interested, you will be trained by the current chair before taking over in the 2019/20 school year. Speaking of membership, we are still looking for amazing families to join the PTA. We haven't quite reach our goal this year and hope that all families will consider joining. There are great benefits for being a member, including discounts and free items. There is a $10 per person fee to join but that $10 goes to supporting both the local and state PTA and the school. By joining the PTA you get to help in making choices that benefit our school, but it also does not require participation unless you desire to do so.

We hope you will join us for our next PTA meeting is February 21st in the MU with dinner and child care provided.

Amazon Smile

Who doesn't like free money? Amazon Smile is a great way to earn money for Evergreen Elementary. The AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price from your eligible AmazonSmile purchases. I'm sure many of you shop via Amazon as well, and all of those purchases can add up to a LOT of free money for our school!

Here's how you can sign up:
On your first visit to AmazonSmile (www.smile.amazon.com), you are prompted to select a charitable organization from our list of eligible organizations. Please select "Evergreen Elementary PTA" in Rohnert Park. In order for Evergreen to receive funding, you must logon to www.smile.amazon.com instead of the regular amazon.com website each time you shop at Amazon. Thank you for your support!
