Erin Gill, SEEA Policy Committee Member, Takes on New Role

Erin Gill, the former Director of Sustainability under Tennessee Mayor Madeline Rogero, was
appointed as Chief Policy Officer
in December 2019 and is overseeing communications, sustainability, and the Center for Service Innovation, as well as State/Federal legislative affairs and other projects. Erin has been a valued member of the SEEA Policy Committee since its inception.

Drive Electric Florida Selects Inaugural Executive Director

On January 22,
Drive Electric Florida (DEFL) announced
the appointment of Matthew Alford as its inaugural Executive Director. Alford joins DEFL with nearly a decade of experience working with Florida’s policymakers, most recently in the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, where he served as the Deputy Legislative Affairs Director for Commissioner Nicole “Nikki” Fried.

DOE Announces $125.5 Million in New Funding for Solar Technologies

The U.S. Department of Energy Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO)
recently announced
new funding for solar research and development projects. mandatory letters of intent are due on
March 9
. The
SETO 2020 Funding Program
will award up to $125.5 million to 55-80 solar research and development projects that will advance technologies to lower the cost of solar, increase U.S. manufacturing competitiveness, and improve grid reliability. The SETO 2020 funding opportunity features eight topic areas, which address a core technology area or challenge facing the solar industry.
