The event will be held on Friday, March 20, 2020 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Peninsula Workforce Development Center at 600 Butler Farm Road in Hampton, VA. This is the fifth annual conference. The Home-Based Business Conference is an initiative of the Greater Virginia Peninsula. Tickets are $40 and may be purchased  online .

The Home-Based Business Conference is presented by York County, Williamsburg, James City County, Poquoson, Gloucester, Newport News and Hampton. For more information about the conference, please visit the  website  or   Facebook event page .

The Home-Based Business Conference and its related Lunch & Learn Series began as programs of the York County Economic Development Office, in partnership with the York County Chamber of Commerce. County representatives learned that two-thirds of York County’s businesses are home-based, a trend that is growing both locally and nationally. In 2018, all six neighboring localities including James City County joined together to co-host the conference and lunch & learn series. This strategic partnership allows these nationally award-winning home-based initiatives to reach and assist more local business owners.

In the Spotlight: PlayDay
PlayDay is an indoor playspace for children up to six years old and their caregiver. It is designed to help grown-ups navigate the delicate balance between engaging with their children and being able to take a breather. The space is thoughtfully arranged for adults, offering comfortable seating, fast wi-fi, strong coffee and wonderful company.
PlayDay was created by Michelle Colby, a child development professional and momma of two, so the play space boasts educational toys that promote development across all learning domains. From PlayDay’s central seating area, the entire play space is visible. Grown-ups decide when to work closely with their children and when to allow them the freedom to discover new materials, skills and friendships on their own.
