On the Road with Cheshire

Cheshire recently had the opportunity to go on the road with Mirror Show Management on the events we share below that featured the use of two different types of LED Tile walls in exhibit hall venues.

NSCA Coaches Conference 2020  - This annual trade show took place at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio in early January.  NSCA Coaches Conference is an event designed to help athletic coaches obtain the skills necessary to train their athletes to achieve peak performance.

For MSM's client, Gatorade, Cheshire employed 54  beMatrix 2.5mm LEDSkin frames to create the 3x9 tiles vertical by 3x9 tiles horizontal that you see at right, measuring 4'10" wide and reaching an eye-catching height of 14'8" on the trade show floor. We also provided all processing and playback equipment that is used to create the graphic images and video seen on the wall.

DocuSign at Dreamforce 19 - In late 2019, MSM designed the exhibit for DocuSign's participation in Dreamforce 19 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA. Dreamforce is the annual convention hosted by Salesforce that focuses on use of cloud technology for a more sustainable environment.

For this exhibit, Cheshire used Absen PL2.5cPRO 2.5mm LED Tiles to create the 19.98' x 8.2' video wall seen at right. We also managed all processing and playback equipment to create the wall's dynamic imaging. 
Rob Flick:  Cheshire's Region Sales Manager, Albany Market

Rob Flick set out on a career in hotel, hospitality and AV at the young age of 16, when he was hired at The Desmond Hotel in Albany, NY in the Banquets Department, where he eventually became a Banquet Manager. What followed was a series of exciting and increasingly responsible positions within Hotel Management as Banquet Director, then Food & Beverage Director at multiple hotels in the capital region.

After his daughter was born, he sought to find a position where he would have more control over his schedule, and turned to AV production within hotels. He began working at the Sagamore as AV Director, and subsequently returned to his original employer, The Desmond, in that same capacity.

His next step was to manage AV at the Hilton and Marriott hotels in Saratoga, which led to his becoming Regional Director of AV, overseeing Audio Visual services at multiple hotels, the warehouse, and all venues in the Capital Region. Immediately prior to joining Cheshire in September of 2019, he was spearheading Business Development at the new   Albany Capital Center.

"One of the things I really enjoy about Cheshire is that they are a family-owned business," commented Rob. "Family is very important to me."

He want on to explain that he loves seeing family businesses launch from humble beginnings, to grow and flourish, while also providing opportunity to others, as Cheshire has done.

Reflecting on his 30+ years in the hospitality and AV industries, he went on to say, "It's also important to me to build relationships. I'm not going to undercut on price, just to get the job, then not be able to deliver. I want clients to walk away happy. For me, it's beyond satisfying when, at the end of a show, we're giving hugs and high fives, and the client wants to sign on for a multi-year contract."

"No one here is looking to drive a Lamborghini. At the end of the day, Cheshire cares more about their clients and their employees than the money," he explained, noting that can only happen by putting relationships first.

When asked about the technology side of the business, he laughed.

"It's forever changing...but Cheshire AV keeps up with the latest and greatest technology out there to continue to serve their clients for over 25 years now."

Rob noted that technology companies are expected to keep up with the forever-changing technological environment, which is part of the reason technology can be expensive. Companies must keep up with demand and innovation.

"I believe in Cheshire's product. We can create an event that is as big or small as you want, and work within your budget so your vision becomes the final product."

When asked what he would like readers to know, he shared, "I am honored to be part of the Cheshire AV team. I will always give an honest opinion and lead our clients in the right direction. I'll never sell them something that is not needed. That is my promise to them."

He went on to talk about his new position as Cheshire's Regional Sales Manager, Albany Market, "We want to give the Albany Capital Region another option for their very important conferences and events. We look forward to collaborating with you to create them, and to deliver your vision."

What You Should Know about the Novel Coronavirus

Although the Coronavirus 2019-nCoV has been on the world stage only a short time, it could have significant impact on the meetings and travel industry, especially in regard to international meetings.

Below is a list with links of resources to help meetings professionals stay abreast of the latest news and guidance from legitimate sources, in order to take a proactive role in dealing with this health concern.

For additional guidance on short- and longer-term considerations, media talking points and additional resources, visit the Events Industry Council's comprehensive piece on the Novel Coronavirus.

 

Health and medical professionals will hopefully soon have this pandemic under control. Meanwhile, the World Health Organization is advising everyone to rely only on reputable sources, such as those listed above, to ensure the information being received and communicated is correct and accurate.
