Now Accepting Award Nominations
Deadline for Awards Nominations - February 14, 2020      

Submit nominations for library supporters, advocates, and employees and to recognize elected officials who have gone “above and beyond in service to South Carolina Libraries”. Awards will be given at the FOSCL Conference on April 3, 2020.

Register today for the 2020 Friends for the Future Conference.
Early Bird Registration is only $15 before March 13th, $25 after.


  • Thursday, April 2nd 5:00 – 7:00 tour of Pat Conroy’s Beaufort (Discounted Group Rate) and Dinner (Dutch Treat).
  • Friday, April 3rd 9:00 – 4:00 pm – Speakers, Programs, Lunch and FOSCL Awards. Check in and coffee at 8:00 am.
  • Friday, April 3rd 5:00 - 7:00 pm - Drop In Social at the Pat Conroy Literary Center - 905 Port Royal Street in downtown Beaufort.

Board Meetings are 5 times a year at the South Carolina State Library in Columbia. Executive Board positions are 2 year terms.

Treasurer - open April 2020
Duties include reconciling bank account, managing Excel membership spreadsheets and keeping the President from overspending.

President - open April 2021
Duties include overseeing meetings, having a passion for libraries, organizing content for FOSCL newsletter and delegating like a boss.

FOSCL Grant Applications
Deadline May 31, 2020
The Friends of South Carolina Libraries (FOSCL) offers grants in amounts up to $250 for support of library Friends organizations in SC. The grants are intended to assist friends groups with an emphasis on the following purposes:
 
Expenses related to the formation/incorporation of a group
Expenses related to obtaining 501(c) 3 tax-exempt status for a group
Expenses related to the revitalization of a “dormant” group
Expenses related to the initiation of new or innovative programs/technology designed to foster local library support which are principally sponsored by a library friends group
 
Friends Groups submitting applications must be a current member of FOSCL.
