THE FOUNDATION FOR EDEN PRAIRIE SCHOOLS RED & BLACK GALA: 2.22.20
Join the Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools (FEPS) on Saturday, February 22nd for its Inaugural Red & Black Gala at Hazeltine National Golf Course, 1900 Hazeltine Blvd., Chaska. Tickets are $75 per person, $35 of which is tax-deductible. Doors open at 6 p.m. for a silent auction with refreshments, followed by a plated dinner with remarks from special honorees and a keynote address by the Spielmann family. FEPS consistently donates between $30,000 to $50,000 annually to support innovative and foundational programs for Eden Prairie School students: STEM, literacy, mental health and school supplies for those in need. EMPTY BOWLS: 2.18.20
Together our community stands up and says, no more hunger, we are here for you! Join us for PROP's 8th annual Empty Bowl's event-raising funds to end hunger. Empty Bowls will be held at St. Andrew Lutheran Church on Tuesday, February 18th from 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. This free event will have soup, handmade bowls, a silent auction, and local entertainment. A freewill donation is appreciated. 100% of proceeds go to PROP Food Shelf to help those in need.

WE COUNT EDEN PRAIRIE: CENSUS 2020: 2.20.20
This workshop will be held Feb 20th from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Eden Prairie Community Center, Cambria room and is designed for social service providers, faith and community leaders. The workshop will explore the Census process and what to expect before and after April 1st. The impact that the 2020 Census will have on the Eden Prairie community and the risks of being under counted will also be discussed. Input will be asked from leaders about ways that all of the Eden Prairie community's voices are heard. For more information or to register visit

Let’s Go Fishing Eden Prairie
by stopping by Immanuel Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 14th between 4:00 and 7:30 pm for their annual All You Can Eat Fish Fry. Cost is $13 for adults, and $7 for children under 10. Funds raised help provide free fishing trips on Lake Riley for children, seniors, hospice patients, veterans, and others who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to experience the joy of fishing our local lakes.

CELEBRATING SOMALI YOUTH VOICES: 3.15.20
Join the Minnesota Humanities Center in celebrating "Crossroads: An Anthology of Resilience and Hope by Young Somali Writers." This event is being held on Sunday, March 15th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Eden Prairie High School located at 17185 Valley View Road (East Entrance, 2nd Floor). Attendees will be able to meet and hear from the books' authors, view a performance by the Somali Museuem Dance Troupe, and enjoy light refreshments. Each household will also receive a free copy of the anthology.

CENSUS APPLICANT DAY
The 2020 census is hiring in our area. The City of Eden Prairie will be hosting a Census Applicant Day at the Office of Housing and Community Services in the basement of the Eden Prairie Mall on February 12th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Census recruitment specialists will be on site to answer any questions, and OHCS and PROP staff will be available to help with applications on a walk in basis. EP LIBRARY WILL REOPEN FEBRUARY 25TH AFTER YEARLONG REMODEL!
The Hennepin County Library in Eden Prairie, 565 Prairie Center Dr., will reopen on Tuesday, February 25th, after a 14 month long renovation. The library plans to open at 9 a.m. and will hold a public ribbon cutting celebration at 5 p.m. The library will stay open until 9 p.m. that day to accommodate the celebration. Come explore the remodeled spaces and enjoy a library scavenger hunt. The library will host new features, including new meeting rooms, wellness rooms and outdoor seating, a teen area and after-school space, electric vehicle charging stations, and improved entry points to reduce air infiltration. The Eden Prairie Library will also be the first Hennepin County Library to have sit-to-stand desks.

The Eden Prairie Human Rights and Diversity Commission is seeking nominations for the Eden Prairie Human Rights Awards. The goal of the Human Rights Award is to recognize an Eden Prairie individual, non-profit organization, business or youth who has worked to create an inclusive community spirit through actions, activities or programs. SERVICE PROVIDERS SHARE RESOURCES AT WINTER WARM-UP
Hennepin County, The PROP Shop, Fraser, Southlake Peds, PROP, Barnes & Noble, The Eden Prairie Library, Think Small, SouthWest Transit, Reading Corp, SEWA-AIFW, and the City of Eden Prairie joined the Family Resources Program at Community Education's Winter Warm-Up event on Feb 1st. 265 people attended this event, where these service providers were able to connect to families and provide valuable resources. Children were able to play games, participate in face painting, make crafts, and watch a Rapunzel puppet show put on by Schiffley Puppets. Community Education will host Friday Fun Day on April 17, 2020 which is a similar fun event for families.
