Greetings Westminster Member,

Welcome to ....
1 Corinthians 1:26-27
Consider your own call, brothers and sisters: not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth.    But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong;”

Lent 2020 begins this month on the 26th as we’ll gather together in our holy sanctuary and be blessed by the leadership of our youth for our Ash Wednesday service at 7 pm. As a culture we often hear much about helping our youth build a strong identity, will they know their passions and desires as they head out into the world at 21? However, often I wonder do adults know their own hearts? Trying to keep up with all the pressures to succeed and please, where does our faith fit into the demands of life?

For Lent we’ll have many tools available to help you grow more in tune with the passion of Jesus for you. Our Worship series will especially focus on the days of Holy Week as we freeze frame those scenes and place ourselves there in the moment. One small group option will be a class I’ll teach which will be a lunch bunch commencing on Ash Wednesday at noon, the class will continue throughout Lent on March 4, 11, 25 and April 1,8. Our text will be Joyce Rupp’s " The Cup of Our Life" , a guide to spiritual growth. The book is $15.00. Please call the church office to register or sign up in the Welcome center. Give yourself this gift of time and study!

Always with Hope,
Pastor Tricia

What do you know about the Westminster Foundation?
You may not be aware that Westminster is blessed to have four endowment funds. Our committee would like to educate all attendees about the benefits that these funds provide to our church and church members.

The Foundation committee will present a forum on Sunday, February 16 at 10:15 am in the Social Hall . This is for all adults and will be very beneficial to your experience as a part of the Westminster community. Refreshments will be served, please make this a priority in your February schedule.
Adult Sunday School

Common Ground:  Marriage is tricky, even when there is great health in a marriage, there can be tension and stress. How can we grow in our awareness of our differences and in response build on our common ground? We’ll study Biblical examples and also use John Gottman’s text, The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work . You don’t need the text to attend the class and although it would be great for both spouses to attend, one will do and can teach the other at home. This class will meet in the Hallmark month of love, February 2, 9 and 23. Location: Room 216  Facilitator: Pastor Tricia
Overview of the Gospel of Mark : Pastor Dan continues to talk about the gospel of Mark - the first and shortest testament to life of Jesus.  Location: Chapel, February 2, 9 and 23

Dear Pastoral Staff, Mission Committee and Congregation,

On behalf of all the children who were the beneficiaries of your "From the Heart" program, I would like to thank you all for the generous gifts you provided to children served by the Court Appointed Special Advocate program! Your continued generosity to the CASA program is much appreciated. The volunteers who get to deliver the gifts are so grateful, as some of the children would not receive gifts if it weren't for you. It is always a pleasure to partner with Westminster Presbyterian Church, and I want to specifically thank Marv DeWaard for initiating this program 4 years ago. I hope you all have a joyful 2020!
