The Dickson County Session was all about Health and Healthcare. Day One: The session started off with the optional lunch. The Class of 2020 has taken the optional lunch to a new level! Such great attendance and alumni joined in as well. After checking into the hotel, the they boarded the bus for a short jaunt to Freed-Hardeman University. At FHU, they had a county overview, a short history of the county and overview of of the nursing program at FHU. What a treat when the class had an unexpected bus tour of Montgomery Bell State Park with Ranger Tim! What happens at the park stays at the park! Then it was on to the Town of White Bluff and back to Downtown Dickson. The evening started with a reception/happy hour at Morgan Farms and an amazing dinner at Lugo's followed. The class spent the after dinner hours on their service project which was a huge success (more about that later). Day Two: SNOW! It always snows during the Dickson Session! It was a pretty snow and roads were clear. The first stop was the Natchez ER then on to Dal-Tile, the Historic Courthouse in Charlotte, TriStar Horizon Medical Center and the Dickson County YMCA. The facilities were amazing and what an eyeopening experience to hear about ACE's, Safe Baby Court, the Opioid crisis and how Dickson County takes care of their own. Great panelists and wonderful to have a choice of a Circuit workout, Tai Chi or Zumba class at the end of the day. A special THANK YOU to Brett Reynolds (LMT 2015), who was gracious enough to be our bus tour guide for both days; AND of course, to Casey Mahoney (LMT 2018) who made sure all the treats were available. Thanks to ALL of the Dickson County planners, sponsors and speakers! Great job!
