Exciting News: We've Got a New Website!
Thanks to Broadstreet Consulting, we launched a new website on Friday, January 10. Our website address, www.thebigredbarnretreat.org, is the same, but the look of the website is totally different! We are excited about this change and hope that it provides you with easier access to information about us. Check it out!
Warrior PATHH Update:
On December 11, 2019, thanks to a generous donor, we broke ground on a first class, state-of-the-art, 8 bedroom lodge home that will house our service members during their 7-day intensive as a part of the Warrior PATHH program. As you can see in the picture, we are just getting started, and we still need your help! There are multiple ways you can help. Stay tuned for the launch of our #GiveBackHope campaign on our website for more information on ways you can give!
Healing Lens is Headed to Florence National Cemetery
Calling all those interested in photography! Healing Lens is headed to Florence National Cemetery on Saturday, February 8, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

The Florence National Cemetery was established in 1865 and is full of history. You can learn more at this link: About Florence National Cemetery

Cemeteries provide us with a tremendous amount of military history and also allow us to explore unique photography opportunities. Our Healing Lens group is open to active-duty military, veterans and their families. For more information, contact Jim Dukes, Healing Arts Director, at [email protected].
Announcing our First Saturday Series Class for February: Tai Chi!

For those of you who have been hesitant to try our new tai chi program, here is your chance!

On the first Saturday of each month, we invite a different yoga professional to explore a different yoga, mindfulness and/or wellness
topic. For February, we are having an open to the public tai chi class taught by Bill Paterson on Saturday, February 1 from 11 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.

Originating from ancient China, tai chi is a graceful form of exercise that involves a series of hands, feet, and body movements. These body movements, called forms, are performed in a slow, focused manner combined with controlled breathing. It is a low impact exercise that puts minimal stress on muscles and joints, making it suitable for many older adults and those with chronic health conditions.
Celebrate World Yoga Day with us on February 22!
On Saturday, February 22, from 9 a.m.- 12 p.m. the Columbia chapter of Team Red, White, & Blue will host their annual "NamasDay" at the Big Red Barn Retreat to bring veterans together with their communities through the practice of yoga. There is an optional trail run/walk from 8 a.m.- 9 a.m. prior to the yoga event. Anyone can sign up to participate in Team RWB's "NamasDay" event: veterans and supporters welcome! Mats will be provided, or you can bring your own.

Beekeeping is Finally Here!

Again, this event is free for veterans and active-duty service members. Registration is required for this event. For more information, you can contact Scott Derrick with Blythewood Bee Company at (803) 754-7577.

Reminder: Female only Peer-to-Peer meetings started last month!
On January 15, we started our first women's only peer-to-peer mentoring group. It is an opportunity for struggling female veterans to seek guidance, emotional support, and make connections with other female veterans who also may be struggling. The group is held every Wednesday from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. in the lounge of the Big Red Barn Retreat. For information, click the link: Female Peer-to-Peer Support Group Info
