United Way of North Carolina
Spirit Awards
Each year, United Way of North Carolina recognizes organizations who have succeeded in raising funds to support their community and have dedicated themselves to being part of the long-term solution to build stronger communities. A panel of 25 judges representing United Way organizations across North Carolina reviewed more than 40 nominations to select this year’s winners, who were recognized at the Spirit of North Carolina Award Lunch held in Pinehurst, NC on February 19th, 2020.

The City of Wilson was recognized for their demonstration of excellence in their United Way of Wilson County campaign. Their employee engagement, participation, and recognition at their annual United Way Campaign Kickoff Lunch set them apart, and landed them in the "Best Practices" category!

United Way of North Carolina also recognized BB&T now Truist for “Building a Better Future” and championing United Way’s efforts across multiple North Carolina communities for many years. Representatives from BB&T now Truist attended the United Way of NC Annual Meeting and received this honor at the Spirit of NC Awards Luncheon.

S.A.F.E. is a human trafficking awareness and prevention agency that provides education, training and resources to professionals and services to victims and survivors. This is not a crime happening somewhere else. It is happening right here in Wilson. Thank you to Mental Health America in Wilson County for bringing awareness to such an important topic!
