Dear Friends for Life,

Thank you to all who supported the March for Life 2020 – whether through your pilgrimage to Washington, D.C., Holy Hours, prayers for the safety of Marchers, defraying of bus costs or provision of snacks, and all other forms by which our Diocesan Marchers were uplifted in the pilgrimage to Washington, D.C. on Friday, January 24, 2020! This day was a great success for our Diocese – a demonstration of our genuine love of Life, our dedication to building a Culture of Life, and our sense of real community in cooperating with each other to give glory to God and the Gift of Life. . The 47th Annual March for Life was a great success!
The 47th Annual March for Life was a great success! Our Diocese had a wonderful representation this year. Our Parishes that sent buses had a significant increase of people in attendance. All of our Schools in the Diocese sent at least 1 bus (some had 2 buses) of students.
It was a wonderful Witness to Life and the Sacredness of Every Human Person! Many new people that came said they were coming back next year and were going to bring a friend. God was truly present as those participating in the March stated, “The sacrifice of the pilgrimage was encountered with much joy and enthusiasm to continue this fight against abortion, and to defend, cherish and protect all human life from conception to natural death.”
March for Life 2020 Reflections
Worthy of Living a Life
March for Life Experience
A Reflection by Shyna Quadras
The March for Life 2020 was one of the most eye-opening and incredible things I have ever experienced. I was blessed with the opportunity to go to the March with the Diocese of Rockville Centre and fellow students from Long Island college campus ministries this year. This was my first time going and it could not have been any better than it was. It was amazing to see thousands of people, ranging from all different ages, peacefully stand up for the right to life. I was so happy to march for something so close to my heart. Read more
A reflection on
March for Life 2020
by Theresa McGiff
As a freshman in college at Stony Brook, I have quickly come to realize that not everyone values life the way they ought to. It is an opinion that is not widely spoken about on a college campus, especially one in New York. Being “pro-life” is not something I am ashamed of in fact it is something that I believe to be intrinsically correct, yet opportunities do not often arise to share these beliefs with others, especially when it is clear that pro-life ideals would not be widely accepted on a public university campus. Life is Precious
A Reflection by Isabella, age 15
The March for Life, I think just the name speaks for itself truly. Not only is it a March for unborn babies, it is a witness in defense for all human beings from conception to their natural death. We marched for the unborn, the ill, the elderly, men, women, all human persons. It is a march for all human life around this Earth. This year was my first year attending the March, and at that moment I was speechless.

To see thousands of people all with the same values, to save all life, in one place at the same time was truly a blessed experience. As the young people of my generation are the upcoming adults of this world, I believe that me attending this March was a perfect start to getting ready for adulthood.  Read more

Prayer to St Valentine

O glorious advocate and protector,
St Valentine,
look with pity upon our wants,
hear our requests,
attend to our prayers,
relieve by your intercession the miseries
under which we labour,
and obtain for us the divine blessing,
that we may be found worthy to join you
in praising the Almighty for all
eternity: through the merits of
Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Assisted Suicide Update
Both the New York State Senate and Assembly have referred their “Medical Aid in Dying Act” bills to their respective Health Committees. These are bills to legalize Assisted Suicide in New York. When New Jersey passed its Assisted Suicide law in 2019, our governor promised that he would make it a priority to get assisted suicide legal for New Yorkers, too. Assisted Suicide is not health care. It is not dignified. It is not compassionate. The Office of Human Life, Family and Bioethics is working on a postcard campaign to oppose assisted suicide in New York State. Also, this will include an ongoing educational effort to expose the real dangers behind these bills.
