Business of the Month
Dave has been servicing his customer’s insurance needs since 1977. He has been a State Farm agent since 1981 and has been in the Gladstone Park area since 1985. He is active in the business community as a member and the current president of the Gladstone Park Chamber of Commerce where he sponsors and participates in many activities. Dave is also active in the Edgebrook-Sauganash Chamber of Commerce and Jefferson Park Chamber of Commerce. Dave married his High School sweetheart in 1978. They have 5 children and currently 5 Grandchildren.

Dave’s daughter Annie joined his office in 1999. Annie started in the office simply answering the phones on her days off school and grew into fully licensed representative serving your Auto, Home, Life, Health, Small Business and Banking needs. Annie has been involved in the Gladstone Park Chamber of Commerce since the chamber started.  Annie began by helping Dave at the Business Expos and evolved to chairing Committees and volunteering where needed over the years. Annie is married with a daughter and a fur baby girl (which a customer convinced her that she needed to adopt 5 years ago). She has also been a Sunday Church School teacher for over 10 years at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in Elgin and chairs the Godparent Godchild luncheon. Dave and Annie are both active in their community at home as well as their business community. Both communities have been good to their family and to Dave’s business and his philosophy is to “put back in from where you take out”.
Like a good neighbor, Dave has been here for over 35 years ready to help.

Economic Development
By Brian Nadig
A panel of development experts would give advice on how to improve the Milwaukee Avenue corridor in Jefferson Park and Gladstone Park under a funding proposal submitted to the RTA from Alderman Jim Gardiner (45th).
The proposed half-day discussion panel is one of nine community planning program proposals which the Regional Transportation Agency is expected to approve for funding.
In 2018 the RTA provided a grant for a Jefferson Park Station Area Master Plan that examined possible improvements around the Jefferson Park CTA Terminal, 4917 N. Milwaukee Ave., and the proposed panel would be considered an “implementation activity” of the master plan, according to the RTA.
The empty storefronts in the 4500 to 5300 blocks of Milwaukee would be a focus of the panel’s discussion, although the overall proposal calls for an examination of the corridor from Montrose Avenue on the south to Ardmore Avenue on the north. The Milwaukee-Lawrence commercial district has several storefronts which have been vacant for decades.
“This stretch of Milwaukee Avenue has several empty storefronts, and we are hoping to receive assistance with a long-term vision for the area and are hoping you can provide the framework to help revitalize the area. If retail isn’t the answer anymore, maybe we an receive some guidance to help identify the most appropriate land use,” a project description states.

Banner Program 2020
The Gladstone Park Chamber of Commerce is taking steps to promote the beautification and the branding of the Gladstone Park Community. We are working towards making Gladstone Park a destination place rather than a thoroughfare through Gladstone Park to other destinations. We are beginning with the reintroduction of our Banner Program. This is an exciting marketing opportunity that provides exposure to your business 24/7. The name of your business and/or your logo will be placed along the bottom of your banner.
The Gladstone Park business community continues to grow. We have many well established businesses including many outstanding food establishments, all of which make Gladstone Park so inviting to potential customers. Our first step is to brand this area with as many banners as we can so please jump on this opportunity to promote your business, as well as Gladstone Park.
As people come to Gladstone Park we want them to know that they have been in Gladstone Park, and these banners will help accomplish that!
We are taking applications for the 2020 Banner Program now and banners will be installed in March 2020.
Please see the enclosed brochure for prices and rules and regulations of the banner program.
