Our Prepatoria is Officially SEP Certified
What is SEP Certification? It is a Big Deal! SEP stands for SecretarÃa de EducacÃon Pública, which is a cabinet-level department of the federal government of Mexico, responsible for the development and implementation of national educational policy and school standards for public and private schools. It takes an enormous amount of work to adhere to its strict requirements for school campus creation and maintenance, teacher development, student curriculum, and more.
The Palapa Secundaria (Middle) School was granted SEP Certification in 2017, and we are proud to announce that Edgar Polanco, Director of University Studies and High School, granted SEP Certification to The Palapa Prepatoria (High) School last month. Congratulations to Juan Diego González, Director of The Palapa School, and Palapa Society Board Members Erick Ochoa, Hal Butler, and Cindy Higgins for their tireless and extraordinary efforts. This is a big milestone in the history of The Palapa Society.

The Importance of Clay Work
In the after school Art program, instructors Jill Mollenhauer and Doug West have moved on from figure drawing and are now teaching the students how to work with clay.
This natural medium allows budding artists to develop their motor skills while learning to express their creativity.
