February 2021
Wine and Chocolate pairing weekends have been an annual tradition each February on the Berks County Wine Trail. Our pairing events are on hold for now, but we still want to share our love of these Wine and Chocolate match ups with you. Just think of how the creamy chocolate first coats the palate and then blends with that sip of wine. It's a flavor sensation few can resist! Sweeten your Valentine's Day plans with a few of our wine and chocolate recommendations.
Chocolatiers and bakeries in the Berks County area will have you smiling from ear-to-ear over all their decadent chocolate selections. Here are some of those unforgettable match ups featured at our wineries in years past.
Stonekeep Meadery - Milk- and dark-chocolate coated pretzels from Berk's icon Billie's Candies of Temple paired with elegant Raspberry Melomel for a sweet, but not too sweet, and salty match up.

Ridgewood Winery - Wine-filled chocolate cordials from Lorah's Chocolates, Mohnton, pair deliciously with Ridgewood's award-winning Blackberry wine.

Deerfoot Winery - Sandy's Cookie Company from Laureldale stole our hearts with their lightly sweet and crunchy chocolate coated biscotti. Chocolate chip biscotti paired with Country Red and a white chocolate drizzled lemon biscotti was a perfect match with Deerfoot Riesling.
Weathered Vineyards - Surprise your Valentine with a bottle of Weathered Vineyards Brut Cuvée or Haven Dessert Wine and a delicious selection of chocolates from local chocolatier, Tara's Treats And Goodies, Kempton.
There's no such thing as too much chocolate and homemade chocolate confections along side our locally-crafted wines are a sure way to a special someone's heart. Re-create some of these memorable pairings for you and your Valentine!
KOG Hill Winery - Dark chocolate coated peppermint cream candy is a surprising combination with KOG Hill’s Gewürztraminer wine. This pairing will turn on the romance with Gewurztraminer's lovely floral aroma and hint-of-spice taste matched to the fresh chocolate-mint flavor candy.

Manatawny Creek Winery - Find romance with sophisticated Chocolate Port Truffles infused with luscious ruby-style Cabernet Franc Port red wine.

Long Trout Winery - It's like a wine & chocolate dream when "love-at-first-taste" chocolate wines are paired with assorted homemade desserts! Imaginatively named wines include Mixed Berry, Strawberry, Cherry, Pear, and Orange. Get one of each or the hardest part will be choosing a favorite!
Stone Barn Cellars - A velvety and decadent homemade chocolate mousse paired with lightly sweet and tropical Morning Glory white wine is a match made in heaven.

Stoudt's Winery - Chocolate Fondue is simple to do at home. Add fruit, like these picture perfect strawberries, pretzels, cake, or whatever you feel like dipping, and Bob always makes sure there's plenty of Strawberry wine to go with it.

Setter Ridge Vineyards - Pinot Noir Rosé wine has wonderfully subtle fruit aromas and taste. Adding a strawberry rosé mini-cupcake topped with creamy white chocolate is the perfect bite to complete this made-for-romance pairing.
COVID Update
While the COVID crisis continues, the wineries of the Berks County Wine Trail remain committed to the health and safety of all visitors. Some wineries have a small number of indoor tables but masks are required when not seated. Most wineries also offer safe and convenient shipping, local delivery, and curb-side or in-store pick-up of wine purchases for you to enjoy at home. We are anxious to put this pandemic behind us and urge you to continue practicing everyday prevention. Thank you, all, for supporting our family-owned businesses during the past year!
