4-H Good Standing Requirements
Members, parents and leaders, do you know exactly what 4-H members need to do to be in “good standing”? Do you know what the “good standing” requirements are? If not, please take a moment to check these out now. Don’t wait until before the fair (or other event/activity) when you may not have enough time to meet the requirements.
Remember, a 4-H member in good standing is one who has met the following requirements:
- Enrolls in a 4-H Club between October 1, 2020 and February 1, 2021
- Club meeting requirements are temporarily suspended, although members are encouraged to attend digital meetings on a regular basis to stay up to date and visit with other members.
- Follows the NM 4-H Conduct and Behavior Expectations of Youth and Adults.
February 1st 4-H Enrollment Deadline
The enrollment deadline for all 4-H members, re-enrolling and new members, is February 1, 2021. This year, all enrollments will be completed through 4-H Online.
Once you have created an account for your family, you may create enrollment forms for each youth and/or leader. Please ensure before you submit your online enrollment forms that you complete the Combined Liability Form. We cannot accept your enrollment without this form completed. Hard copies of the liability forms are available at the Extension Office for your convenience. You can also digitally fill this form out, sign it digitally and email to heidic@nmsu.edu or upload to 4-H Online.
In order to compete in any contests or to show livestock in the 2020-2021 year, you MUST enroll by February 1, 2021! No exceptions will be made.
If you do not have access to the email that you most currently used to enroll your youth in 4-H, please contact the Extension Office to have your email reset before you can register your youth. Otherwise, if the system says you already have an account, you will be able to reset your password through the prompts using your email on file.

Junior Livestock Meeting
The January 2021 Otero County Junior Livestock Meeting will be held at 6:00pm at Caliche's at 2251 North White Sands Boulevard in Alamogordo on Monday, February 1st. Exhibitors, parents and volunteers are invited to join.
Schedule your Packer Appointments TODAY!
If you plan to purchase any market livestock for the coming year, please make appointments for each market animal you anticipate purchasing NOW. Packers are already filling up as far as the end of next year.
This year, all livestock exhibitors will be required to provide confirmation of packer appointments for every market animal that they tag in. These confirmations will need to include the name of the company, date for processing and the number of each species. The Junior Livestock Committee will verify all appointments. Youth who do not make appointments with packers prior to tagging animals in will not be eligible to tag in, and therefore, will not be eligible to show at the Otero County Fair.
