This survey, for Renfrew County and Lanark businesses, aims to identify local workforce needs and challenges. While there have been multiple provincial and national surveys, this is the only survey providing local information to inform local services and job seekers.

Ontario's NEW Skills Development Fund (open until February 28, 2021)
|
Applications are open for the Ontario government's NEW two-year $115 million Skills Development Fund. This funds supports workers and apprentices to navigate and overcome challenges brought about in hiring, training and retraining workers due to COVID-19.
Employers and training organizations in Ontario can apply with a focus on:
- giving laid off workers immediate access to training supports or new jobs
- improving the quality of training
- supporting underrepresented groups
- increasing apprenticeship registrations and completions
- better serving local communities
- supporting the talent needs of small business

The program is intended to support a variety of businesses, including restaurants, retail and personal care services. Eligible business will be able to request a minimum of $10,000 in funding to a maximum of $20,000 to help cover decreased revenue experienced as a result of the Provincewide Shutdown.

The Tourism Recovery Innovation Program (TRIP) (until funds depleted)
TRIP is geared specifically for tourism dependent small to medium businesses. Funding of 80% of eligible expenses to a maximum of $20,000 is available. This program provides relief of the offset costs related to one-time modifications and/or re-opening costs, implementation of health and safety protocols, and digitization measures. Applicants must be in Ontario Highlands Tourism (OHTO RTO11). Renfrew County is.

CEBA (deadline March 31, 2021)
The Canada Emergency Business Account is offered through the Government of Canada. It recently increased from $40,000 to $60,000 and offers businesses a 0% interest loan with the possibility of a third bring forgiven. Terms apply. If you previously successfully applied, you are eligible to re-apply for the additional $20,000.

Service Concierge
The Service Concierge partnership including Petawawa, the City of Pembroke, Laurentian Valley and Renfrew County Community Futures Development Corporation are hosting a series of financial themed workshops for small businesses. Five sessions are available virtually throughout March. Registration is necessary as space is limited to ensure interactivity for participants. The sessions available are:
Wednesday, March 3: 7-8 pm
This session will feature a video by RCCFDC on important grant writing tips and provide attendees with a handout and information on key things businesses need to have ready in order to be prepared when grants become available. Panelists who will be doing a Q&A as part of the session are: Mike Barber, County of Renfrew; Kelley Lemenchick, RCCFDC; Heather Salovaara, City of Pembroke; and Katie Tollis, Township of Laurentian Valley.
