Wink Alert From Lake Superior State University On The 50th Anniversary Of Its Department Of Natural Unicorns: Show Love To The Legendary Horned Creatures By Not Hunting Them On Valentine’s Day

“A half-century ago, Lake Superior State University smiled as it established one of the most fantastic branches of pursuit in all of higher education: the Department of Natural Unicorns. Over the decades, countless questers at LSSU, across the U.S., and around the world have not only embraced the unique search but also suspended their affectionate trail on Valentine’s Day as a further gesture of endearment toward the prized figures,” said Game Warden of the Department of Natural Unicorns, Peter Szatmary, who also doubles as executive director of marketing and communications at LSSU. “Unicorn hunters understand the importance of the 24-hour pause in the fabulous chase just as they know that questing hours normally run day and night except when the Tooth Fairy or Santa Claus is around because there’s only so much magic available at one time.” Read more.

CULINARY ARTS - RECIPE OF THE MONTH
WRAPPING IT UP
We are very proud of our Laker Alumni serving on the frontlines in the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic. We are equally proud of our faculty and staff who taught, guided and advised these heroes toward their journey into some of the most noble professions.

There are many of our alumni and staff partnering here in Sault Ste. Marie in incredible ways to help our Laker and local community get Covid testing and earlier this month get vaccinated. The leadership and staff of War Memorial Hospital has worked in concert with the LSSU administration to operate vaccination stations in our Norris Center. Almost 1,000 community members have been vaccinated. Congratulations and thank you to all involved.

Watch for more stories in the upcoming Laker Log about these brave women and men. If you have a story to share with us, please use the link in this E-ffect to do so.

As we continue to navigate the challenges of Covid-related restrictions check out the monthly recipes we will be sharing from our Les Cheneaux Culinary School. You may want to give them a shot or check out their web-site for other activities.

Bon appetit and stay safe.
