February 7—Special Called Business Meeting after each service
February 14—New Members will be presented during morning services
A Message From The Pastor Search Committee
From the Pastor Search Committee
The Pastor Search Committee would like to thank each of you for your prayers and patience as we have made this journey to find the man GOD has called to be our new Senior Pastor. It has been a very busy season for us since initially coming together for our first meeting in early November. We have received and evaluated many resumes. Per recommended procedures as established by both the North Carolina and Texas State Conventions, we have been working with one unique individual for the past month. After an extensive and intensive meeting on Saturday, January 16, 2021, the Pastor Search Committee makes the following recommendation.
The Pastor Search Committee, being in full unanimous support and agreement, would like to inform the church that Dr. Rodney Navey will be present with us on Sunday, February 7, to preach in view of a call. On Saturday, February 6, the church family will be offered an opportunity to meet and greet Rodney and his wife, Donna, in the Worship Center from 1:30pm-3:00pm. If you are unable to attend in person, this event will be offered to view, via livestream, on our website. On Sunday, February 7, Rodney and Donna will be at all three (3) services. Rodney will preach in all three services, and a vote to issue a call to Dr. Navey will be taken in a Special Called Business Meeting immediately after each service by the church membership.
For those individuals who are unable to attend service because of health concerns, and are currently watching our services online, we offer the following three (3) options to vote:
(These options will be offered Sunday, February 7, between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM)
  1. Vote In-Person: The front entrance of the church will be open for those individuals who would like to come to the church, mark their ballot and place in the ballot boxes available.
  2. Vote Online: There will be a “VOTE” button at the top of the homepage on the church’s website. Click the button, and it will take you to a link that will allow you to vote and submit. WE MUST ASK THAT YOU PROVIDE YOUR NAME TO VOTE ONLINE. THERE MAY BE THOSE THAT WATCH ONLINE BUT ARE NOT MEMBERS AND MAY NOT UNDERSTAND THEY ARE NOT TO VOTE.
  3. Vote over the Phone: The church will provide non-member ministry assistants to take call-in votes at the church number, (336) 288-3824. You will be asked to provide your name.
After the voting period has ended, the trustees will be requested to count all votes and inform the Pastor Search Committee of the vote totals.
Thank you in advance for your attention to all of these details. We feel this is going to be a very exciting time for our church and its future!

Married Adults
Associate Pastor, Barry Owen
Marriage Mentoring: Marriage takes effort, even in the best of times. But during this pandemic, the stress of financial pressures, child care, looking after elderly parents, school closures, feeling cooped up, and just plain general safety concerns have strained even the strongest relationships. Add in a contentious election and social unrest and it is taking a toll. How are you and your spouse doing? As you begin a New Year, why not start off on the right track? Marriage isn’t a 100-yard dash; it’s more like a life marathon. If you need help, encouragement, or someone to talk to, call our Marriage Ministry at Lawndale and we can help with tools and resources that will make your marriage better! Guaranteed! 336-288-3824.

Senior Adults
Associate Pastor, Jon Boling
Senior Adult Ministry is alive at Lawndale! Here are eight ways to stay connected:
  1. Worship each week at 4pm. (9am or 10:30am too, your choice)
  2. Weekly SAM Blast emails from Jon with the latest news.
  3. A weekly “Life Journey with Jon” video that goes out on Saturday at noon.
  4. Weekly in-person Bible study in the CLC from 2:45-3:45pm. This is a great group!
  5. Pray for each other according to the weekly prayer request emails and bereavement announcements from the church.
  6. Support the mission and ministries of our church in obedience to God through your tithes and offerings.
  7. Support your own Circle of Fellowship of believers who pray and care for each other more closely.
  8. And most of all, please let me know of folks who are sick or needing pastoral care.
We are truly a family, and everyone serving and worshipping together makes it a blessing! Finally, THANK YOU for continuing to be diligent in our safety efforts against the Coronavirus.

Connect Mentors Needed - Are you interested in becoming a mentor to women who are seeking a support network in connection with The Pregnancy Network? Their mentorship program called “Connect” is designed to connect each woman desiring a mentorship with a woman who will walk alongside her, and to both encourage and challenge her in her life. She may be looking for wisdom about parenting, guidance in her relationships, or a desire to grow closer in her relationship with God. Not all of the participating women are pregnant, but all of them are seeking a support network in their current situation. The goal is to create a long-term, healthy support network for each woman and a strong relationship with each other. If you are interested, please contact Becky Walker at bwalker0723@yahoo.com.

Women's Ministry
Thank you, church, for supporting the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions. We collected $115,187 from Lawndale in 2020!
In February, our Women on Mission Groups will continue to learn about the work of these 3,500 missionaries and pray for them as they spread the Gospel all over the world.

We’ll also help out a local mission, called “Backpack Beginnings.”  This organization provides a backpack of food for school children to bring home for the weekend, when they wouldn’t normally have enough food. While students are learning remotely, volunteers have continued to fill backpacks, telling us that the need has doubled over the past year.
If you’re not in a group but would like to help us with this project, please call our Director, Fran Brown, at 336-292-8508.
Worship & Music
Associate Pastor, Terry Adams
The month of February reminds us of our Great Love Divine! With that in mind, our praise song of the month is, "Love Divine, All Loves Excelling," written by John Wesley in 1747. The hymn is considered to be among one of Wesley's most famous and successful compositions and is based on 1 John 4:16, "So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him." Written with the theme of God's perfect love and sanctification, it is said that the hymn is a Christian adaptation of the song, "Fairest Isle," from the 1691 semi-opera King Arthur by John Dryden and Henry Purcel. Both songs have the same meter and rhyming scheme. In the original song, the character must choose between her native land and the Isle of Britain. In the hymn, "Love Divine, All Loves Excelling," divine love must choose its residence as the human heart over the native Heaven, until we take our place in Heaven and cast our crowns before the Lord. May this be a reminder that we must strive to live a life that serves the Lord, until our time here on earth is complete.
General Announcements
Transition Update - On Sunday, February 7, there will be a Special Called Business Meeting after each service for the purpose of voting on Dr. Rodney Navey.
