February 2021

Love is in the air! February is a wonderful time to let our friends and families know how much we love and appreciate them, which is exactly what our classrooms will be focused on - loving and caring for ourselves and others. Speaking of appreciation, thank you to Nicole Turman for chairing this year’s Trike-A-Thon. The children had a BLAST, and we were able to raise more than $5,000 for a wonderful cause!

Did you know that February is Pet Month here at All Saints School? This theme is so meaningful to children as they are naturally drawn to animals, and most are familiar with a pet either from their own household or from a neighbor, friend, or family member. Our teachers will use animals and pets to teach across all domains; you will see many hands-on learning opportunities including veterinary dramatic play, agility courses, graphing and sorting various types of animals, vocabulary building through songs and literature, and art with dog bones, feathers, and animal prints. Our Outdoor Classroom will be transformed into a pet store and animal hospital. Through these activities, the children will be learning and practicing empathy, compassion, respect, and responsibility.

This year Literacy Week will be Monday, February 22 through Friday, February 26. Like most of our school events this year, it will look a little different, but the focus will remain the same - fostering a love of literacy in our Little Saints. See below for ways to get involved!

Registration for the 2021-22 school year is now open to the public! Thank you to our current families who registered; you will receive a welcome packet in the mail in late July/early August with information regarding the coming school year. We have limited space remaining; please share with friends, family members, or neighbors who may be interested in joining our All Saints family!

With Love,

The Kindergarteners are leading our school in a pet-friendly service project!

Throughout the month of February, we are collecting the following items for dogs and cats: food, treats, toys, and old blankets or towels. All donations can be dropped off through carline and will go to Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando. Click here for additional donation ideas

Later in the month, the Kindergarteners will make and sell play dough kits to raise money for Spay N Save. Stay tuned for information about ordering a pet-themed play dough kit for your child!

Many thanks to those who participated in this year’s St. Jude Trike-A-Thon. Our children and families raised just over $5,000 this year! Since starting this event in 2005, our school has raised more than $61,000 for St. Jude. We could not be more proud! Thanks again to everyone for making this event such a success and such a special day for our kiddos.

-Nicole Turman, Chair

We are excited to announce that All Saints School was awarded a 2021 Green Schools Grant from the Keep Winter Park Beautiful & Sustainable Advisory Board! This grant is awarded to schools serving Winter Park that are working toward achieving sustainability goals and beautifying their campus while engaging and educating their students in the practices of sustainability. We have received this grant 8 out of the last 9 years and have used it for a bike rack, water bottle refill station, herb garden, and natural wooden toys.

This year the grant will go toward a water trough system for our Outdoor Classroom, which will help us continue to foster a love and respect for nature and its resources. With the water trough system, our Little Saints will explore physics and cause and effect while reaping the endless benefits of playing and interacting with natural materials!
Please mark your calendars with these upcoming events.
