Principal Kafele Discusses Leadership Mindset
Please join the North Carolina DTEC - TAG Team on Thursday, March 25th for our program on a leadership mindset. This dynamic program will begin with a presentation from the one and only Principal Kafele. Following Principal Kafele's presentation, we will have a panel discussion and Q & A session with educational leaders. If you are an aspiring leader or currently in a leadership role, you don't want to miss this event!

Congratulations to our very own Equity Warrior Veronica Menefee (DC-MD-VA) for her feature in Learning for Justice's Spring 2021 magazine!

Nikki Miller (North Carolina)
Congratulations to Nikki Miller as she will continue her career in education at Pitt County Community College! Nikki is the newest member of the Early Childhood Education Department and will be working with their two new programs - the Associate in Science in Teacher Preparation and Association in Arts Teacher Preparation. Nikki Miller begins her new role with 20+ years in Pitt County Schools, where she thrived in a variety of teaching and administration roles and will continue to do so as her program's students are prepared for K-12 Licensed teacher careers.
Isis Spann (DTEC-TAG Supporter)
Congratulations to Isis Spann, a devoted DTEC-TAG Supporter as she is a 2021 Cohort of National Voices Fellow! The 2021 cohort of National Voices Fellows builds on 50CAN’s efforts to bring people together across partisan and geographical divides while cultivating a new and growing group of education messengers, analysts, and advocates to continue the march, together, toward an education system that is more just, equitable, open and centered on students, parents, and results.

Summer Learning Series!
The Summer Learning Series was a HUGE success, with 26 LIVE broadcasts - including the H.E. LIVE Pop-up on May 31, 2020 - totaling over 83,288 total views on our platforms. We hope that you and the students you know were positively impacted by our efforts to increase equity and access to highly effective professional development with lessons on equity, knowledge, and action! We'd like to thank every viewer, every educator, and our H.E. LIVE Project Managers for creating these unique and empowering opportunities to learn, connect and share.

DC-MD-VA: An Educator's Guide to Self Care
Our DC-MD-VA DTEC-TAG team hosted a powerful discussion around "An Educator's Guide to Self-Care," to introduce self care and healthy mental health tips for educators to implement; especially in the COVID-19 pandemic. The panel included licensed social workers and psychologists who empowered educators to take a break and communicate with others to express their feelings - both good and bad.

North Carolina: Let Us Speak: Young Voices Panel
Our North Carolina DTEC-TAG Team hosted the "Let Us Speak: Young Voices Panel" webinar event on February 18. A panel of high school and college students tackled discussions around social justice, learning equity among Black students, and their unique perspectives on the state of education!

Fulbright Resources
The 2021-2022 Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Research Program (Fulbright DA) provides an opportunity for K–12 educators from the United States to conduct research and engage in other professional learning experiences abroad for three to six months. Fulbright DA participants complete individual Inquiry Projects on a topic relevant to education in the United States and the host country, take courses at a host university, and share educational practices with colleagues.
Participating Host Countries -
The 2021-2022 Fulbright DA Program host countries include Brazil, Colombia, Finland, Greece, India, Israel, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, Singapore, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and Vietnam.
Inquiry Project -
As part of the application process, educators identify a topic relevant to their educational practice that can be enhanced by collaboration with colleagues in another country.

The 2021-2022 Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms (Fulbright TGC) Program equips educators from the United States to bring an international perspective to their schools through targeted training, experience abroad, and global collaboration. This yearlong professional learning opportunity for K–12 educators features an intensive online course and a short international exchange.
Participating Host Countries -
Brazil, Colombia, France, Germany, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Morocco, Peru, Philippines, Senegal, and South Korea (countries subject to change in the 2021-2022 Fulbright TGC Program).

Our National Project Director Dr. Johni Cruse Craig and our Equity Warriors Keisha Chandler (DC-MD-VA), Dr. Char-Shenda Covington (Georgia), and Tia Gilliam-Wilson (North Carolina) will be presenting on literacy proficiency in partnership with Teach for America: South Carolina.
