Hello Fellow Chamber Members!
January saw some interesting updates and changes to the current climate we are all in. With restaurants beginning to reopen, an inauguration, schools switching to hybrid learning, and other businesses opening their doors. These changes just go to show that while this is still a very difficult time, the business community, education community, and our personal communities can still work together to make meaningful adjustments and changes to how we operate and continue to sustain and thrive through this pandemic.
The Chamber is excited to begin planning for unique and changed events for the 2021 calendar year. We hope to be able to bring back events like our golf outing, since it is outside and distanced, we feel that it gives us all a great excuse to get out on the links and have some fun! While looking forward, we are also working to come up with some new event ideas that involve virtual platforms such as zoom. These events would still give our community the opportunity to mingle, socialize and enjoy an evening together. Keep an eye on the calendar so you do not miss out on these new and exciting events.
We hope that you continue to participate in these new events and enjoy your membership with the chamber. We are still here, working to send information to you that could help you through these times, and hope to hear from you if you need assistance, have an idea, or just want to talk! Here we are in February 2021, and we are moving forward and staying connected. Although we are still in a pandemic, vaccines are rolling out. Not as quickly as expected, but to even have a vaccine to help control this Covid19 virus is a scientific miracle. Now we wait for the powers that be to implement and obtain vaccines and schedule them to be administered. Check in with your doctor, pharmacy or the Dupage County Health department to ask where you can sign up for your vaccine. We are anxious to get back our “normal lives”.
While for now we live in our “Zoom” meeting world we are still connecting. The Chamber has been offering connections to our members with our monthly LINCT meetings, Multi-Chamber event networking, a State of the County webinar with the Chairman of DuPage County, and a link to the 2021 State of the Village Address. We are also keeping our members apprised of webinars and events that are put on by our Community partners. There is an upcoming Choose DuPage webinar on February 4th that offers small business guidance and loan resources information. Scroll down in the newsletter for the link to register.
The Chamber is adapting with the times and looking at new outdoor events for 2021. These will benefit our businesses and our community. We are bringing back our Annual Golf Outing. Last year, we postponed the July 2020 golf outing to October 2020 with all of the necessary precautions. It was really nice to be outside socially distanced and the weather was a typical fall day in the Mid-West. One Member said they liked the event and the weather was really nice, but missed the usual hot summer day. So watch your emails to see what is in store for you our Members in 2021.
Don’t forget to support your local Chamber businesses. Whether it be curbside pick-up, online shopping, buying a gift card or whatever is in your comfort zone. Our businesses need us more than ever!

AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT
June Keeley
DuPage Pistol Shrimp Baseball Club
June Keeley of the DuPage Pistol Shrimp Baseball Club is this month's featured Ambassador. June is the General Manager for the DuPage Pistol Shrimp Baseball Club, which is a collegiate summer league baseball team that plays at Benedictine University. She is responsible for pretty much everything except recruitment and rostering of players. She is in charge of sales, marketing, operations, merchandise, community engagement, host families, staffing, interns, ticketing, and more - you name it! This is June's first time working for a sports team in this capacity but her former career was in Human Resources. She was also extremely active in volunteering throughout the time her kids were in school, and those many positions helped her gain expertise in a variety of areas that fit perfectly with her current role with the Pistol Shrimp. Her entrepreneurial and creative spirit, starting her own jewelry and online sales businesses, have also been advantageous in managing and promoting a small business start up.
June has been involved with the Lisle Area Chamber since early 2019 and is also involved with the LINCT (Leadership In Network Committee Team) Committee. June and her interns were also at the Lisle French Market with Paula Gleason every Saturday, all season long this past summer and fall. June loves being part of Ambassador Committee and being part of this amazing group of people. It makes her proud to represent the Chamber because it is such a wonderful organization. She loves being part of the Chamber family!
June lives in Naperville and has two grown children: a son in college in Louisiana and daughter who lives and works in Cincinnati. She also has two furry kids at home, Belle & Gus (brother and sister Havanese littermates). Her son's sweet cat, Nitro also lives with her. She enjoys traveling, hiking, cooking, roller coasters, live music, movies and trying new things. She also loves comedy and trained at Second City. One of her many favorite quotes is "Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm." by Ralph Waldo Emerson. This sums up her attitude about everything in life - whether your goals are big or small, you have to tackle them enthusiastically to be successful!
