Planning for our Annual General Meeting
The Altona & District Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is planning for our 2020 Annual General Meeting for Members. Due to the current restrictions on gatherings, we are looking at different platforms to conduct this meeting. One, of course is ZOOM where Members will register to attend at a certain time and another is to just record the meeting and replay it on Facebook, Instagram and our website where anyone can have access at anytime. We would need to provide a list of motions/resolutions to approve and make that available to Members for voting purposes.

NEW PUBLIC HEALTH ORDERS NEXT STEPS OF PROVINCE’S CAUTIOUS REOPENING - Effective Feb. 12
We are so happy to see the further loosening of restrictions to our businesses. The Chamber has been informing Members about the multiple programs available for relief from the effects of the restrictions imposed by Covid 19. We are calling businesses especially affected to find out how you are doing and to discuss available funding relief. The Province of Manitoba Bridge Grant Phase 2 has been distributed and there may be a Phase 3 announced soon.
Restaurants who have had their dine-in food service restricted are encouraged to apply for the Restaurant Relief Program to defray costs incurred to provide delivery to your customers.
The Federal Government has made funds available for an Emergency Rent Subsidy to provide emergency rent and mortgage support until June 2021 including a top-up for those affected by lock-downs.

It's Membership Renewal Time!
Just a reminder that It is time to renew your Membership with The Altona & District Chamber of Commerce
2020 for the Chamber started off a little slow, with periods of inactivity after our AGM and then Covid-19 restrictions hit and it became more difficult to do business. By the last quarter of the year the Chamber had hired an experienced Manager and information began to flow. We provided details on federal and provincial relief programs of which many Altona businesses and their employees took advantage. During the pandemic, 'Shop Local' was our byword; we initiated Take Out to Win which generated over $5,000.00 in extra revenue for local restaurants, provided $500 in weekly prizes and a grand prize of $250 to entrants; and the Free Santa Delivery Service made shopping easier; 80 deliveries were completed thanks to the Altona Elks Club and YFC The Station. The largest promotion though was Chamber Bucks. We sold over $388,000 bucks and so far, $150,000 has been redeemed! That's money that was spent in our local businesses. You must be a Chamber Member to accept Chamber Bucks.
Chamber Membership has its privileges. Members are promoted on our Social Media platforms (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter), events are promoted on the Altona Digital Sign, you receive newsletters, notifications about all business relief programs, and you have access to all Affinity discount programs.

Dine-in Restaurant Relief Program
On December 22, 2020 the Manitoba government announced it is providing $5 million in financial relief to dine-in restaurants that have been affected financially by the province moving to Critical (red) on the #RestartMB Pandemic Response System and resulting public health orders.
Based on a recommendation from business leadership and stakeholders, the $5-million Dine-in Restaurant Relief Program will be delivered by the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce in partnership with the Manitoba Restaurant and Foodservices Association and Economic Development Winnipeg.
