Online Education Calendar
Invite all PTG members to view your next virtual chapter technical. Many chapters have adapted their meetings to online gatherings that include time for networking, education, and business. There are benefits to meeting from the comfort of your own home, especially for those who have to travel long distances to meetings. Reach out to PTG members in other chapters by posting your meeting info to the Online Education Calendar. Chapter presidents and RVPs can submit events by using this short online form.
PTG Zoom Account Available for Chapter Meetings
Interested in setting up a chapter meeting online? PTG can do that for you. Contact Jim Fariss (sec@ptg.org) or Barbara Cassaday (barbara@ptg.org) to set one up. Visit the Zoom Help Center to learn about using Zoom features, system requirements, and more. Please make requests for meeting links at least a week before your meeting.
Fee Change Reminders
  • The application fee for a new member application increased to $149 on September 1, 2020.
  • Tuning and Technical Exam fees increase to $210 each on January 1, 2021. There is no cost for the written exam.
RPT Exam Time Extensions
The PTG Board of Directors extended some RPT exam time limits at the Winter Board meeting.
  • Exam retakes may be taken up to two (2) times within 43 months of the original exam.
  • All CTE and TEC recertifications were extended until February 1, 2022.
Try Out the New Digital RPT Written Exams
This new format is easy to use, scoring is automatic and can be given anywhere you have internet access and a digital device. The 100-question, online format of the exam must be proctored by an RPT. The RPT should contact the Home Office (kathy@ptg.org) to set up an exam and receive instructions for the examiner and examinee.
Interested in Being Part of a Mentorship Program?
Know someone who needs some help learning a skill or preparing for their RPT exams? The Mentorship Page offers a list of technicians from all over the country who are eager to help. Embark on a long term relationship or just ask for help with one particular skill.  Many mentors are willing to work remotely. And, check out the new Mentorship Connect community - where mentors and mentees can engage and share resources. Read more about the program and use the sign-up page to show your interest in participating as a mentor or to find a mentor.
New Leadership Scholarship from PTGF
Ten Leadership Scholarships are available in 2021. The scholarship is open to PTG members holding office in local PTG Chapters as President, Vice President, Secretary, or Treasurer. It provides a voucher covering the exam fee for the PTG Technical or PTG Tuning exam; valid at any exam site. Click Leadership Scholarship for more details.
Communication with PTG
We need your help. Please ask if your chapter members have been receiving email from the PTG. If not, they may have opted out in which case they will need to contact the Home Office to get their name put back on our email list. This is very important as most communication from PTG is now being done electronically. Please ask them to update their profile online or contact the Home Office.
Virtual Exhibit Booth
Have an opportunity to participate in a state music teacher online event? PTG developed a virtual exhibit booth for the 2020 Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) conference. You are welcome to use this link for an event in your area. Contact Kathy Maxwell (kathy@ptg.org) if interested.
