Passage of Coastal Legislation-- The Water Resources Development Act, or WRDA, is typically passed by Congress every 2 years or so, and always contains important coastal projects and policy for Louisiana related to the US Army Corps of Engineers. Another WRDA was signed into law at the end of 2020 and contains important provisions for our region, including:
- Houma Navigational Canal and Port Fourchon
Path for renegotiating the accrual of interest for the New Orleans-area Hurricane Protection System
- Coastal Louisiana Ecosystem Protection and Restoration Task Force
- Comprehensive look at the entire Lower Mississippi River Basin
FY 22 Annual Plan-- CPRA's annual document on how many projects they have recently completed, projects they will start soon and what money will pay for those projects will be presented at the February board meeting and discussed at virtual meetings at the end of February.
