COVID Vaccination Information
The City of Racine Health Department, which provides health services to Wind Point, is following Wisconsin Department of Health Service (DHS) guidelines for vaccine prioritization. The following groups are currently eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine:

  • Frontline Health Care Workers (including EMS professionals)
  • Residents and Staff of Long-Term Care Facilities
  • Police & Correction Officers
  • People who are 65 and older.

If you are in one of the eligible groups your primary healthcare provider should be reaching out to you directly based on vaccine availability. You can also reach out to them directly and let them know that you are interested in obtaining a vaccine. Below are websites for some of the most common heath providers in Racine County.

If you do not have a local health care provider, you are urged to contact a local health system and connect with a primary health care provider. Please remember that there are 28,822 people in Racine County and 700,000 people in Wisconsin who fall into the 65 and older age group. Wisconsin is only receiving about 70,000 first doses per week, so not everyone in the 65 and older age group will be able to get vaccinated immediately.

It will likely be spring 2021 before a vaccine is available to the general public. In the meantime, COVID-19 continues to spread in our community. Please make sure that you prevent the spread by:

  • Avoiding close contact with people you do not live with
  • Wear a mask
  • Wash you hands often
  • Stay home if you feel sick

Reminder to Shovel Around Fire Hydrants
All residents are asked to make sure that fire hydrants that are adjacent to their property are clear of snow after each snowfall. If a fire hydrant is lost or buried in the snow, firefighters can lose valuable time trying to locate and dig out the hydrant when they arrive.

Clear the snow three feet all around the hydrant so firefighters have enough room to connect a hose. We would also like to remind you to look out for your neighbors who are elderly or have disabilities, by taking a few extra minutes to shovel out their hydrants.

Finally, whether you are shoveling around hydrants or clearing your driveway, please refrain from pushing snow into the roadway.

Thank you for your help!
