Ride United Last Mile Delivery:
2021 End of Year Report
|
|
In late January, UWW released the Ride United Last Mile Delivery (RULMD) 2021 End of Year Report detailing our work and impact through this innovative delivery program in partnership with DoorDash, PetSmart Charities, 211s, United Ways, and hundreds of local partners. Here’s a link to this impressive 2021 RULMD report, that we hope you take some time to read and celebrate!
RULMD has a goal of providing 1.5 million free deliveries in 2022 alone, and free deliveries are available to any UW or 211 which has food or items in their community needing delivered direct to those in need.
We will continue to on-board interested United Ways and 211s on a rolling basis. If you are interested, please complete the 2022 RULMD Application here. If you have questions, contact Teresa Lange.

Impact Highlight: United Way of the CSRA
211 Day of Service
|
|
About four years ago, a request for Christmas assistance led to a bond that was formed with a family that has surpassed the phone lines of 211.
Oftentimes you aren’t afforded the ability to connect with the families we serve once the conversation ends, but sometimes families will call back; at times for additional assistance, but also at times to thank you for the impact you made on their lives. This Impact Highlight reflects just that. Resource Manager Cynthia Martin answered a call from a mother who was raising her autistic son. The mother shared that was aware that she missed the deadlines for Christmas assistance, but she simply wanted to provide a few gifts for her son.
Activate #TEAM211! The team at United Way of the CSRA 211 in Augusta, GA worked together and gathered donations to ensure that this family had a few gifts to open on Christmas morning. This act of kindness did not go unnoticed, and the team often received calls and updates on the progress of the caller’s son.
This year the team decided to dedicate their 211 Day of Service to this family and provide a bedroom makeover for the now young man who enjoys wrestling, his favorite character is Roman Reigns. The young man was overjoyed and continued to express how grateful and happy he was with his new room. Thank you to the staff of United Way of the CSRA for your support of the community and the impact you make one caller at a time.

Black History Month: Celebrating Our Shared History
|
|
February is Black History Month, and we dedicate this month to elevate the accomplishments of Black Americans. Originally established as a week-long celebration in 1926 by Carter G. Woodson, the founder of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, the event grew from one week to a full month when it was recognized by President Gerald Ford in 1976, only forty-five years ago. Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. President Ford challenged the American people to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.”

Webinar Recording: "Taking the Fear Out of Conversations with Funders"
-
Talking to funders can be intimidating. Special thanks to our partners at AIRS and the National 211 Steering Committee for hosting this conversation where we answered questions about how to approach funders, what they are looking for and what tips representatives from corporate philanthropy, national foundations and United Way Worldwide had to share. ICYMI, this is a powerful and relevant presentation that we all can learn from.
