Hello

Economic Development is a full-contact partnership sport that requires collaboration and relationship building between businesses, developers, local and state government, academia, and non-profit organizations for success.  I am proud of the deep partnerships which The City of Frederick Department of Economic Development has built to help drive job creation, tax base, quality of life, and workforce here in the community. These partners represent industry, academia, businesses, hospitality, as well as geographic areas across the city.  This issue of eNews highlights efforts of many ongoing efforts by the City and our partners to develop new public infrastructure, business parks and facilities, advocate for specific regions of the City, and deliver critical programs and projects.  I am fortunate to serve on the Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA) which has the tag-line that “Economic Development Transforms Lives.” We are working with our partners each day to do just that.

Best,
Richard G. Griffin, AICP, CEcD
Director, Economic Development
