Superior Give-A-Thon is a time of encouraging yearly gifts to Lake Superior State University from alumni, friends, faculty and staff. Help us raise $20,000 in support of the Fund for LSSU & Laker Club! Superior Give-A-Thon runs from January 31 through May 6, 2022.
The Superior Give-A-Thon call team is made up of students from a variety of regions and encompassing various majors. Our students enjoy speaking with Alumni and friends of the University and endeavor to make a true ‘connection’ with each phone call. We look forward to speaking with you soon!

Lake Superior State University announces two new memorial scholarships that benefit distinct undergraduates and that honor beloved alumni community members. The pair of scholarships will be bestowed to recipients effective the 2022-23 academic year, with dollar amount to be determined.
The Martin (Beau) Korson Chippewa County Sunrise Rotary Club Award will be given to an incoming freshman who is pursuing any course of study at LSSU and who graduated from a Chippewa County high school. The scholarship commemorates Korson, who grew up in Suttons Bay, MI, graduated from LSSU in 1998 with a degree in mechanical engineering, and spent most of his career in drafting. A transplant to Sault Ste. Marie, MI, and a devotee of the outdoors, photography, music, and the Chippewa Theater Guild, he died in 2019 at age 43, surrounded by family, after fighting cancer. Lake Superior State University Hires New Native American Center Student Support Advisor
Robear Assinewe-Beaupre joins the staff of Lake Superior State University in the new role of Native American Center student support advisor. In this position, he will help provide wrap-around student support for at-risk students, working in a team approach to connect students to campus resources such as supplemental instruction, academic counseling, and tutoring.
Assinewe-Beaupre will also coordinate campus events and cultural learning opportunities at LSSU’s Native American Center. The Native American Center is a campus resource dedicated to supporting Native American students throughout their educational endeavors. The center also serves as a resource in preserving and teaching local Native American culture, history, and traditions through educational, ceremonial, and social activities for the campus and surrounding communities. Former players, coaches and Laker fans were welcomed back at the Cooper Gym for the annual Laker Basketball Alumni Reunion Weekend on February 25 & 26.

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced the 2021 GLIAC Fall All-Academic & Academic Excellence Teams. 17 student-athletes from Lake Superior State achieved academic honors, including eight on the All-Academic teams and nine on the Academic Excellence lists. The Lake Superior State hockey team clinched home ice in the Mason Cup Quarterfinals after a 3-1 win over the Bowling Green Falcons to earn a Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) sweep in the final weekend of the regular season. With the win at the Taffy Abel Arena, the Lakers end the regular season with a 17-16-1 overall record and a 13-13-0 mark in conference play. Read more.

The Lake Superior State men's and women's track and field team closed out the 2021-22 indoor season at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, Feb. 26 and Sunday, Feb. 27 at the Grand Valley State University hosted meet in Allendale, Mich. The women's team recorded two points at the conference championship while the men's team earned 21 points at the meet. Read More.

The Lake Superior State men's basketball team fell to the Michigan Tech Huskies by a final score of 65-56 on Saturday, Feb. 26 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) game at the Bud Cooper Gymnasium in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. The Lakers close out the regular season with an overall record of 16-10 and a 11-9 conference record. The Lakers will take on the Northern Michigan Wildcats on Wednesday, March 2 in Marquette, Mich. in the GLIAC Quarterfinals. Read More.
