Navigating the Framing Supply Chain
COVID-related supply chain issues such as shipping delays and product scarcity have left many industries scrambling. Michael Murphy Framing is working hard to keep our framing services running smoothly despite these challenges. During framing consultations, we will call to check on framing product availability while you are at our framing desk to ensure your custom framing is delivered on time.

Bill Mack Exhibit
This spring, we look forward to presenting American sculptor Bill Mack. Sneak peek of Bill's bio:
"Bill Mack has no mentors. There is nowhere to go to learn his sculpture techniques... Sculptor Bill Mack works in such a rare art form that coming up with a name to describe it has been only slightly less arduous than creating the art itself. Bill Mack sculpture, simply put, is emotional elegance defined in sculpture."

Salvador Dali
A recent study shows Salvador Dali’s creative secret is backed by science. Excerpt below:
“Salvador Dali had a peculiar way of refreshing his mind—something he called 'slumber with a key.' In his 1948 book 50 Secrets of Magic Craftsmanship, he described how it worked.
'You must seat yourself in a bony armchair, preferably of Spanish style,' he wrote. In your left hand, you were to clench a heavy key, suspended above a plate. Then, he continued, 'you will have merely to let yourself be progressively invaded by a serene afternoon sleep, like the spiritual drop of anisette of your soul rising in the cube of sugar of your body.'
As you drifted off, the key would slip from your fingers and clang on the plate, awakening you. He claimed the brief moment spent between wake and sleep would revive your physical and psychic being. And he cautioned that 'a mere second is infinitely too long.'
Now Dali’s mystical-sounding method has been, to some degree, vindicated by science."

Alexandra Nechita
Alexandra was featured in a #MakeItHappen Interview with Veronica Beard! Excerpt below:
“For some, talent comes from experience. Others are born with it. Get to know our latest mover and shaker, artist Alexandra Nechita.
By the time she was 11, Nechita had already sold over 1.5 million in sales with her Cubist-style paintings. And that was just the beginning. The Romanian-American painter went on to appear on The Oprah Winfrey Show and, in 1997, designed the 39th Annual Grammy Awards program, too—both also, by the way, at an age before most of us have even entered high school. Today, Nechita continues to paint, with celebrity collectors including Ellen Degeneres and Alec Baldwin.
But Nechita knows when it's time to put down the paintbrush, too. 'With time, I have unsubscribed to the incessant chase and 'need' to hustle to be successful,' she says. 'I have learned that sometimes the chase can be more exhausting than the reward is worth.'"

David Skillicorn
David is hard at work on a new series of paintings of abstracted trees and has recently placed three large works with collectors in the mid-Atlantic region. We are excited to feature his prolific work in our gallery!

|
Peter Hansen
We caught up with longtime gallery artist Peter Hansen! Peter had a great 2021, placing over 20 paintings across the country. He is painting in retirement after his life’s journey from growing up in Yosemite to moving to New Mexico, then to Colorado, and finally down to Florida. Fun fact - during his childhood in Yosemite, Peter's neighbor was the legendary photographer Ansel Adams!

Robin Austin
Robin Austin’s larger-than-life photo mosaic portrait of a young Frank Sinatra in a 1938 police mug shot has been turned into an NFT. The piece features more than 3,000 individual exploding images of little photo squares Austin assembled to make light, shadow, and color in the portrait. Its unveiling as a 32-second video marks the opening of a special 'Is Art An Asset or An Investment?' exhibition.
