Hello, All,

You should read this newsletter, because it's got free stuff!

One of my favorite songs is the World War II-era hit Ac-cent-tchu-ate The Positive by Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters. As the chorus goes, so do I:
You got to ac-cent-tchu-ate the positive
E-lim-i-nate the negative
And latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mr. In-between

While it's often been a challenge to do over the last two years, I've reaped the rewards of that positivity, maintaining an active social life both in and out of the shop, which has kept me sane. I'm thankful to have a rewarding business that keeps me busy, curious, and connected. I'm not sure what I would have done without it.

Others in our industry have not been so lucky - the food industry has been hit particularly hard. So, we want to thank those in that industry in a very fun way. My favorite food history group, newly renamed CHNorCal (Culinary Historians of Northern California) is sponsoring an incredibly generous cookbook giveaway from our shop; here's the deal: If you are in the food business (farmers, grocery clerks, cooks, servers, distillers, bartenders, culinary students, food writers, et al.), you have the month of February to come in to Omnivore and choose one of five titles to take home as a thank-you gift for all the hard work (or no work) you've endured through the pandemic. To celebrate the diversity of Black History Month, we are offering ten each of the following titles:

That's it. No strings attached. First come, first served, and you must come in person, because we love to see your lovely faces, masked or not.

Believe it or not, there's a second great deal this month, offered by the good people at Chronicle Books. If you pre-order a copy of Cathy Barrow and Linda Xie's upcoming book, Bagels, Schmears and a Nice Piece of Fish, you will receive a coupon for a free Boichik bagel and schmear! Again, it's first ordered, first served - we have 20 coupons available through Feb. Additionally, Cathy Barrow will be at Omnivore to give a talk about the book on March 24.

This is a lot of information, so I don't want to take up too much more of your time. but as usual, we have new event additions, including a big one in May with Andy Baraghani! Check out our events listings and come join us at our live (and safe) events,

Sincerely
Celia Sack
