Box tops 2.jpg

No more clipping! You can now download the Box Tops for Education mobile app. Once you download the app, find "Laurel Nokomis School," shop as you normally would, then simply scan your store receipts to find participating products. The app will then automatically credit your school's box tops to earnings online. Scanning your receipts needs to be done no later than 14 days from the purchase. It's neve been easier to help our school earn funds for education. Download the app today and help our school!

Help support LNS by going to Amazon Smile and designating Laurel Nokomis PTO as your charitable organization. After that, the Amazon Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price to LNS on Amazon shopping done through the AmazonSmile portal. It costs you nothing and your Amazon shopping experience will be the same (wish lists and preferences carry over to the portal).

A Note from Ms. Rasbury

HS Physical Science Honors Class

The students in my 8th grade HS Physical Science Honors classes teamed up with a program called “We Share Solar” to create 12 volt DC stand-alone solar systems.  It is a suitcase that generates energy through solar power that can be used to power light for communities that do not have access to electricity.  The students were able to combine solar energy and engineering education with real-world application to create these battery powered energy suitcases that run off solar panels.  Once the suitcase were built along with electrical switch boxes, the suitcases were sent back to the “We Share Solar” company where they are check for construction quality and system reliability.  The suitcases are then sent to the country of Uganda in Africa to local communities where they are installed and attached to solar panels to power their school houses so the students and teachers have light to teach, learn and spend more time on their education.  Our students will receive pictures and information from the school and community that gets their solar suitcases so the students are able to see how and who they helped.  If you would like more information about the program, their website is www.wesharesolar.org

Here are a few pictures of the students putting the suitcases together:
