In 2021, the NHFB became a partner of Leah’s Pantry and was trained in offering its Nutrition Pantry Program to our network of partner agencies. The Nutrition Pantry Program combines the best practices of healthy pantry work grounded in trauma-informed principles and processes that promote a client and community-centered distribution. In early 2022, the Food Bank piloted this program with four pantries.
We are excited to share that we have piloted this program with four of our partner agencies and our very first pantry recently graduated!
The Society of St Vincent de Paul Exeter graduated from our Nutrition Pantry Program as a gold certified pantry, meaning that they made significant achievements in each of the programs six-key focus areas. Congratulations to everyone at Society of St. Vincent de Paul Exeter!
Some of the activities that St. Vincent de Paul Exeter is implementing as a result of trainings through this program are:
• providing effective communication and transparency to their clients;
• providing accessible space and a warm, welcoming environment;
• connecting clients to other services beyond direct food assistance; and
• ensuring individuals have access to dietary and cultural needs when possible.
