The FC Board of Education consists of five members who are elected by district to staggered, four-year terms. For the month of February, the Board met four times.
FCS Recognition
The Board had a number of recognitions this month, which includedAarya Thakker from Piney Grove MS, who was the Middle School Essay winner, and the FCS February Employee of the Month, Chestatee ES Principal, Polly Tennies.
Finance Report
This month's financial update included year-to-date budget reports, cash accounts holding debt service funds, a summary of investments held, a budget summary for special revenue funds, a roll-forward of capital projects and school food services cash, SPLOST activity for the month of December 2022, and a breakdown of cash held by individual schools. Two policy revision were presented, and are now available for public review:
After community feedback and revisions, policy BCBI: Public Participation was approved by unanimous vote.
The resolution on the Floating Homestead Exemption was also approved, which supports the homeowners of Forsyth County by providing a five percent cap annual on any increase or decrease on the reassessed value of any primary homestead. The exemption would have a sunset of December 31, 2028 in order to evaluate the impact on Forsyth County Schools. It will now go to the Forsyth County State delegation, followed by FC voters for approval/denial.
