Action Requested: Completion of District Professional Learning Needs 2023-24 Survey
The Office of Educator Effectiveness and Leadership Development (OEELD) supports educator growth through professional opportunities and district assistance. To ensure that we provide the best support to districts, we need to hear from you all regarding your professional learning needs. Please help us continue supporting you by completing the District Professional Learning Needs 2023-24 Survey by Friday, March 3, 2023.

The District Professional Learning Needs Survey consists of 10 questions and will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete. Thank you for your support!
Virtual Office Hours
There will be no Effectiveness Virtual Office Hours during the month of February. Our next Effectiveness Virtual Office Hours for 2022-2023 is scheduled for March 1, 2023. We will discuss the new Human Capital Dashboard, reports in the Professional Learning Library, questions regarding evaluations and SCLead, and more. If you have any request for topics, please email Dr. Brandon Gantt, bgantt@ed.sc.gov on or before February 24, 2023.

You can access previous months' recordings and PowerPoint Presentations through our website.
SLO Reminders
For year-long SLOs, the option to sign for the mid-course conference is available in SCLead.org. The only time that SLO goals can be modified is at the mid-course conference. The SLO Business Rules state: If an educator's student roster changes significantly, the educator and the administrator/evaluator can adjust the SLO based on these changes during the mid-course conference. The changes made must be documented.

An educator must be present for 85% of the interval of instruction for the SLO to be deemed valid and complete.

In instances of teacher leave, an SLO interval can be appropriately shortened. For SLO resources, please visit our SLO webpage. For SLO questions or support, reach out to your ADEPT regional contact or SLO Coordinator Roshonda Frazier, rfrazier@ed.sc.gov.
PADEPP Reminders
Mid-Year Conferences are typically held by February of each year. Please check to ensure your principals and evaluators have held their Mid-Year Conferences. This time frame provides the principals sufficient time to collect evidence of professional practice before the End-of-Year Conferences when final ratings are given. Please communicate with your principals and evaluators what their respective roles are for the Mid-Year Conference as outlined in the PADEPP Guidelines on pages 13-18. For assistance with PADEPP issues, please contact Dr. Vicki Traufler, vtraufler@ed.sc.gov.

Professional Learning Library (PLL)
How do you support your educators who are yearning for more intentional professional learning through coursework and video support?

The Professional Learning Library (PLL) has thousands of resources to support educators' growth and professional development. You can access the PLL through SCLead or the Instruction Hub. If you need any support with navigating the PLL, please contact Dr. Brandon Gantt, bgantt@ed.sc.gov.
New: Human Capital Dashboard
Since June 2021, the OEELD has asked districts to reflect on access to effective teaching and leadership as a part of the annual ADEPT plan. The Effectiveness Human Capital Report (Schools) is still available in SCLead, but the SCDE has also launched a more extensive data dashboard that brings together vacancy and retention data from school report cards, effectiveness data, and information about teacher and principal experience in the same dashboard. The dashboard for 2020-21 is available at ed.sc.gov>Login>Human Capital Dashboard. Once more years of data are added, a memo will be sent out to superintendents, district HR and ADEPT staff, and principals. Send any feedback on the dashboards to Lilla Toal Mandsager, lmandsager@ed.sc.gov.
