New Member Orientation Committee Seeks Instructors
The RASCW Orientation Committee is seeking members to serve as instructors for New Member Orientation, an important first step in joining the Association and our industry. Orientation sessions happen about once per month, ten times per year - sessions are not held in July or December. Your annual time commitment as an instructor would depend on your availability, and instructors are typically at a given orientation session for 1-2 hours, depending on their presentation topic. Topics covered are: Your Associations (NAR, WRA, & RASCW), Advocacy, Professionalism, Code of Ethics, Arbitration, and Fair Housing. If you're interested in potentially becoming an orientation instructor, please contact Erin Volland at erin@wisre.com.
RASCW Celebrates Black History Month
As Black History Month, February is dedicated to learning about and celebrating the contributions of Black Americans throughout our history, as well as recognizing the barriers they have faced and continue to face, including in real estate and housing. This education is vital to removing those barriers and to make homeownership, and growth in generational wealth, a true possibility for all. Here are a few ways you can learn about Black history, as well as continue to help work toward positive change and equality in our industry and communities, now and every day:
RASCW Minority Scholarship Changes
For over 20 years, RASCW has supported diversity in real estate with our Minority Scholarship. We believe that with more minorities providing real estate services, there will be an increase in the acquisition of real estate by minority buyers, which will help build stronger and more diverse communities. This program helps achieve this by providing financial assistance and support to minorities who are interested in pursuing a career in real estate. Click here for more information about the scholarship.
We would also like to announce two changes to the scholarship application process. First, we just launched a new electronic application, which can be accessed from our website and submitted entirely through DocuSign. You're also welcome to print and complete the application, and submit it via email to Charisse Gipson (charisse@wisre.com). Second, an agent's broker or manager now needs to complete the application first and then the agent will be asked to complete their part. Please share this information with your offices and colleagues, and encourage any individuals you feel would benefit from this scholarship to apply!
