Conexión Latina was a Latin jazz ensemble formed in Germany and comprised of musicians from around the world. In 2000, Conexión Latina came out with their recording Mambo Nights, the title track they commissioned from Oscar Hernández (Spanish Harlem Orchestra). Oscar had forgotten about the tune until he ran across the song on a YouTube video. It just so happened that Oscar still had the digital file and made it available to include in the 3-2 Music Publishing catalog. So for the first time since the release of the Mambo Nights recording in 2000, this original composition is available for purchase (see below). Mambo Nights is a little big band composition presented here in its original digital format rated at a medium-difficult level. Click on the images for full details.

The very first song 3-2 Music Publishing acquired from John Calloway was Tumbando (available here) recorded on the John Santos and the Machete Ensemble's 20th Anniversary recording. I have known John since the 1990’s and commissioned an original chart from John a couple of years ago titled “Palmieir’s Tumbao” dedicated to the “Sun of Latin Music" Eddie Palmieri (see below). John is featured soloing on this recording (video), Aaron Lington on bari sax, as well as a couple of alumni from my high school Latin jazz ensemble; Javier Navarrette on congas (San Francisco) and Channing Booth on piano (San Diego).

While at a family B-B-Q, I received a call from Jovino Santos Neto. Jovino asked me if I would be interested in promoting his compositions. Jovino was the piano player for the legendary Brazilian composer Hermeto Pascoal for 15 years. It is an honor that Jovino entrusted 3-2 Music Publishing to represent his arrangements. Below is an original samba commissioned from Jovino titled Samba No Vento. This chart features the big band trombone section. If you're looking for a samba from one of the leading composers of Brazilian music this could be what you are looking for. Easy trombone ranges with a strong bass bone player. On the recording the soloists are Jovino Santos Neto on piano and Francisco Torres on trombone (musical director for Poncho Sanchez).

3-2 Music Publishing is the source for authentic Afro Caribbean jazz. No staff writers here, just composers who work and perform in the field of Latin jazz and Afro/Latin music.
