Mentoring Undergraduate Students Course

Are you a mentor of undergraduate students? Do you want to learn how you can strengthen your mentoring relationships with them? We just released a new course designed exactly for that.

You’ll learn to appreciate and communicate to mentees the importance of mentoring in their development as researchers; articulate the pros and cons of different mentoring models; routinely reflect on and adapt your research mentoring practices; and much more.

Though our course focuses on mentoring in the biomedical, behavioral, and social science fields, the principles can apply to other fields, too.

And if you’re from an institution or organization and would like to have your mentors take the course, we can help you create your own cohort and start enrollment—just email info@nrmnet.net

Did you participate in any of our Mentoring Month activities in January? If you missed it, let’s look back on what we did to celebrate.

In partnership with the Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Consortium for Advancing Health Equity and Researcher Diversity (AIM-AHEAD), we hosted a Twitter chat to share resources and talk about the importance of mentorship in the STEMM community. Check out our Twitter account to learn all about what we shared.

We also hosted two webinars with AIM-AHEAD—one that highlighted mentoring across demographics and fields of study, and one that focused on mentoring pertaining to culture and awareness to promote a sense of belonging in the STEMM fields.

Students—are you looking for a way to personally connect with a mentor so you both can work to achieve your goals? Then MyMentor is just the program for you.

MyMentor is our guided virtual mentoring program within MyNRMN. Once you match with a mentor through one of three ways, you’ll embark on a mentoring journey with a timeline of goals, which you can edit to fit your needs. To do this, we’ll provide you guided prompts to encourage conversations with your mentor.

We also provide various ways to get in touch with your mentor, including a discussion board—where you can write posts to your mentor and share files—and a virtual meeting space, where you can schedule a video call with your mentor for a more personal mentoring interaction.

Want to get started? Sign up for MyNRMN to access MyMentor today.
