Dr. Jalika Joyner, a PhD student, veterinarian, and GloCal Health Fellowship alumna, was recently featured for her research in the Bwindi region of Uganda examining how vector-borne diseases spread among both humans and animals through mosquitoes.

Master's Student Stipend Program Spotlight: Mariah Jiles

Mariah Jiles is a second-year student at UC Berkeley in the MPH program concentrating in Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health. She is passionate about the wellness of birthing individuals and women’s health, and is particularly interested in the health of Black pregnant people in the United States.

The One Health Workforce – Next Generation Project, American Rescue Plan Act, AFROHUN Côte d’Ivoire, and AFROHUN Cameroon are fighting COVID-19 vaccination misinformation and promoting vaccination on university campuses. Dr. Jaber Belkhiria of the OHW-NG Project gets the inside scoop.

Dr. Ushma Upadhyay recently published an Op-Ed with The Los Angeles Times, in which she discusses the accessibility of abortion pills in pharmacies. Though there has been progress in recent years, the FDA should be doing more to address arbitrary regulations that deter pharmacies from selling mifepristone.

Advances in Global Health
